Aedan by Kathi S. Barton

Nikki Neal was damn good at her job. As an undercover cop, she had just about enough information to put the local crime boss away, but she needed more to make it stick. But when someone blew her cover, Nikki found herself on the wrong end of several guns.

Aedan Harrison was on the fast track to winning the Governor's seat for the state of Ohio. He had his whole life, or at least his immediate future, planned out. What he didn't need was a mate he hadn't made plans for throwing a monkey wrench into the mix.

The last thing Nikki needed was an overbearing jackass ordering her about, and telling her how much he didn't need her in his life right now. Well, she didn't need him either. She had work to do and needed to get herself and her grandda to safety.

It didn't take long for Aedan's family to convince him in the error of his ways, and when he saw what he'd done he felt like an ass. All he wanted to do was make it right, but could he grovel enough for her to accept him?

Another story that does not disappoint. I'm beginning to think that these shifter brothers were dropped on their heads as babies. They do not react well when they meet their mates and are lucky that these ladies just don't shoot them. Aedan is working on being the next governor, he has to deal with a slimy politician already in that seat and has not time for a mate. He has been told he is to be the next president and a mate does not work with his neat orderly timeline. Nikki was shot point blank while undercover, she is hurt, ticked off and does not need an bossy male telling her he doesn't want her. Just when did she offer herself? I just love that these guys get women who don't let them push them around. She is one tough cookie and not afraid to show it. The two of them give off sparks that will burn up the pages. Lots of action, funny interactions, meddling family and hilarious sayings keep this story light. I always love to see the bad guy get outsmarted and get whats coming to them. I loved the scene when Storm and Nikki get asked if they are ninjas, I laughed out loud. Fast paced and easy to follow, just what I have come to expect from this authors work. I can't wait for book 4. I was given an ARC for an honest review

Aedan is Book Three in the Harrison Ambush series. Aedan has everything planned on what he wants to do and one of the things high on his list is running for Governor. Everything is going along fine with debates and such - he thinks everything is great in his life. Nikki is a cop that we met briefly at the end of Cormac (Book Two in the series) - she has been hurt along with her granddad. She is taken somewhere safe that no one will find her until they know where her granddad is and she returns to keep him safe. When she meets Aedan (at his home where her granddad is), he knows immediately that Nikki is his mate and wants nothing to do with her or the mate business until she gets hurt again. Can Aedan save Nikki and protect her granddad? Will they stay apart because of who is after Nikki and Aedan running for Governor? This is definitely a must read and would recommend to everyone.

When it comes to a mate, there's no denying the pull. Both Aedan and Nikki have no plans for a mate right now. Nikki is trying to bring down a crime boss and protect herself and grandfather in the process; while Aedan is running for Governor on his way to the White House. **"I had high opes for you being the only sane brother in the family. At the very least, the most romantic."** Action, romance, and a nosy family make this a very enjoyable read. I do think it's funny that with each brother who finds their mate they add more and more scary women to the family. **Yeah, I don't think so either. She's hard as nails, and scares me just a little too."**
