Dominic Trevino had been called a lot of things.
But he was most notoriously known as Dirty Dom.
Because that was who he was...for the most part.
It just wasn't all he was.

His tortured past was as stained as his licentious reputation, and that was exactly how he'd designed it. It was the only way he knew how to cope with the ghosts that still kept him caged in horror and self-loathing. But the day Raven came tearing into his life-her temper as hot as her teeny tiny shorts-he knew he could never be placated with faceless hook-ups again. Still, he couldn't let her see who-and what-he really was inside.

Raven freed him from his past...freed him from his pain.
She saved him.
Even though she didn't believe he was even worth saving.

From the author of New York Times bestseller, Fear of Falling, comes a full-length, spin-off standalone about unbreakable friendships, the power of healing, and learning to love through forgiveness.

Fear of Falling is one of my top five favorite books of all time. All. Time. So, to say that I was extremely happy to hear that Dom was going to get his story is a complete understatement. You couldn't help but love Dom in Fear of Falling, but you knew there was so much more to him than what we saw. Afraid to Fly was perfect. Epic. Outstanding. The writing is flawless and the story is full of such emotion that I found myself crying without even knowing I was. I didn't want to do anything but read. I think I forgot to feed my kids! Dominic or Dirty Dom is sexy, gorgeous and a major player. He loves women and they love him. He uses them to forget. To get lost in the softness and the pleasure. But, he's starting to feel worse when it's over. He thinks he's dealing with his demons fine, but he's not. He's haunted by nightmares that grab hold and won't let him go. And, then he meets Raven. There's something about her that he is drawn to. He's helping her brother, who doesn't speak. He instantly bonds with Toby and cares for him more than he should. Raven doesn’t like him. Doesn't trust him, but she's attracted to him. She puts up a good fight, but in the end she can't stay away. Will getting close to Dom ruin her? Will Dom allow Raven to love him? Their chemistry is off the charts and Dominic is so hot that I almost couldn't stand it. He's one of the most tortured, broken souls I've ever read. I just wanted to reach in and hug him and whisper everything was going to be ok. Afraid to Fly is one of those books that just stays with you. Just like Fear of Falling. And, getting to see Blaine, Kami and Angel again was so cathartic for my soul. It was like coming home. Afraid to Fly has every emotion: pain, loss, anger, hate, regret, disappointment, sadness, humor, forgiveness, hope and love. When you have love and family, you can fly! "Desire is just concentrated madness of the body and soul," she whispered. "Do you want my crazy?" "Yes," I replied too quickly to stop myself. Not falling for her wasn't an option, because I had already fallen. Fallen deep and hard and fast. Too fast. "I don't care about the sins of your body. I only see the light of your soul and the fullness of your heart." - Kami. "You're bigger than my fear, bigger than my pain. You're the most perfect part of me." - Dom.

This story is very deep. I teared up several times. Dom is one of the sweetest and most tragic personas ever. I loved him right away. He had a total crap past and has turned it into motivation to save others from the same. The man he is now combined with all of the flashbacks of his experiences— Oh! My heart. Be prepared for floods of emotion. I didn't connect as much with the female lead or her story. I think I absolutely loved this book until around 80 percent. I still really liked the story overall, but some of the last 20 percent took away from the previous amazing connection and flow. Dom will always stand out as one of my favorite characters. He touched a special place in my heart. The author really outdid herself creating such a lovingly conflicted role. He's the perfect sweet dream.

Emotionally Powerful Read!! Afraid to Fly is the second book in the Fearless series. Afraid to Fly tells the story of Dominic Trevino, better known as Dom or rather Dirty Dom. Dominic was first introduced in Fear of Falling as one of Kami's best friends, but his story was never told. Now, with Afraid to Fly, Dom's story has been told, and I cannot tell you enough just how powerful and emotional and heart wrenching of a story it is. Afraid to Fly not only tells the story of a truly broken man, but it also tells the story of a man fighting to survive and to be loved even when he does not think he is worthy of any of it. S.L. Jennings did an amazing job of grabbing the reader from the moment Dominic began the telling of his story and she continued to draw you into this emotionally gripping story with not only her writing style, but also the reintroduction of Blaine, CJ, Angel and Kami, as well as the introduction of Raven and Toby, who are all so intricately and powerfully woven into this tale, and all who play such a remarkable part in Dom's life. They each help to breathe life into his existence and help him navigate his survival, and learn to start living and loving, because he is worth it. I cannot praise this book enough. I think this book is one of S.L. Jennings' best work thus far. I cannot wait to see what happens next with the Dive gang. Great job, S. L. Jennings on this one.

Afraid to Fly is by far one of my favorite reads this year. I just loved Dom and Raven's tug of war relationship. From the very first word I was hooked. There was so much pain in both Raven and Dom that I often found myself crying, feeling everything that they felt because of the extraordinary writing of S.L. Jennings. Underneath the sexy, "Dirty Dom." lays a very sensitive, loving and vulnerable man. Once Dominic loves, he loves with everything he has. However, he doesn't allow many in to see that part of him. What he endured as a child brought me to my knees. No one should ever have to live through that kind of pain or torture. Raven is a strong, independent woman who has been left with the responsibility to raise her younger mute brother. She too has suffered her share of pain growing up and doesn't trust many. When Raven and Dom meet, it isn't hearts and roses. Dom is intrigued by Raven's spunk and beauty, but Raven is not at all taken by Dom. Dom doesn't realize that he and Raven have shared a past, but Raven does. Raven is not at all happy that Dom has been assigned to work with her brother Toby, and makes it very clear to Dom. However, as time passes, Raven and Dom eventually develop a friendship which slowly becomes more. Can two broken spirits fix one another? Can Dom overcome his past and believe he deserves love? Afraid to Fly brought on so many emotions: love, hate, regret, vulnerability, humility, judgement, fear, love, hope, forgiveness, and trust. Afraid to Fly is one of those stories that stays with you days after you've finished it. Thank you S.L. Jennings for once again delivering an unforgettable story.

I really love this series. Both, Fear of Falling and Afraid to Fly, take you on an emotional journey. I highly recommend both books. Love that the author included a Playlist in the first book.
