After All is a standalone lovers-to-enemies-to-lovers contemporary romance from the NYT and USA Today bestselling author of The Pact and Before I Ever Met You.
Emmett Hill is the perfect gentleman.
At least that’s what his PR team wants the world to think.
Tall, handsome, and wickedly charming, Emmett is in the midst of a career comeback, having landed the role of a villain in a popular TV show. The only problem is, Emmett has come a long way from the “nice guy” characters he used to play and his old squeaky clean image is quickly being tarnished by bar fights, womanizing and bad boy behaviour. Considering he’s two years shy of forty, it’s an act he needs to drop. And fast.
Enter Alyssa Martin.
At twenty-eight, Alyssa is tired and ready for a change. Her job as office manager has grown stagnant and unfulfilling, while she’s become continuously frustrated with Vancouver’s lackluster dating scene, always searching for Mr. Right in a city of Mr. Wrongs.
When Emmett and Alyssa’s paths cross at a mutual friend’s wedding, their chemistry is off-the-charts hot, culminating in a steamy one-night stand.
What neither expected was for the media catch wind of their coupling – and run with it.
Now Emmett has to convince Alyssa to date him for the sake of his image. Her curvy, cute and “normal” persona is just the ticket to smoothing out his reputation, while Emmett provides Alyssa with the excitement and change her life has been lacking.
The only problem is, the two fight like cats and dogs outside of the bedroom.
And considering their arrangement is just for show, they shouldn’t be in the bedroom with each other anyway.
Try telling them that.

Really solid book. This is one of my favorites from Karina Halle. I usually find fake romances a bit boring and predictable, but the author wrote this really well.
Addicted to Karina Halle’s books! After All is the story of Emmet and Alyssa and how trust plays a huge part when you are trying to build a relationship and the way Karina Halle handled everything was beautiful, some of the thoughts Alyssa was having were spot on and ultimately she made the right choice for herself and not for someone else. But let’s back it up a little bit to the moment these two meet, I mean uff pretty intense, they meet at a wedding of another beloved character (don’t worry you can absolutely read this book as a standalone) and from the get go we see parks flying but more like I want to kill you, stop talking kind of sparks but we know that deep down the attractions is just begging to be let out and explore. So, because Emmet is in dire need of some good publicity he comes up with the plan of asking Alyssa to be his fake girlfriend for a few months, so that the public can see that he is totally able to date a “normal” girl. And so the dance begins, and what a dance it is, basically they kind of like/hate each other and have intense physical chemistry and that leads to some pretty amazing moments both sexy and heartfelt. Emmet was a huge surprise to me, he was so open with Alyssa at times, you could tell he was really willing to fight for something between them and make it work. I truly enjoyed this book and in my opinion Karina’s writing just gets better and better.
Karina has done it again! Very enjoyable read!
"She's my first act and she'll be my last. There will never be anyone else for me." Karina Halle is now officially number 2 on my list of Most Read Authors with 24 books. What I love most about her writing is that she can do it all. She has written books in so many different genres and I have enjoyed them all. So I am always up for a new book by her. Normally, the fake relationship trope doesn't do it for me that much. However, I really enjoyed it in this book. I think the biggest reason for that, was because of the very interesting characters. I was hooked on Emmett right away, and he got me all hot and bothered. I loved how they first met, and I really liked that Alyssa didn't fall all over him right away. However, the chemistry between them was incredible. I loved their banter and their sexy foreplay. Emmett definitely found a woman who could stand up to him. She said what was on her mind without a filter, and that really made me appreciate her. However, you shouldn't always judge a book by its cover. Alyssa made some assumptions about Emmett that weren't completely true, and it sometimes resulted into emotional scenes. I really loved how they interacted, and enjoyed the character development for both of them as individuals and as a couple. It had a very organic growth and nice flow. The writing was great as always and easy to read. This book had some very funny moments that made me laugh, but also sad ones that had me tearing up. One thing I didn't like was the drama at the end, it felt a bit forced and could've definitely been left out in my opinion. It did trigger something in the characters but it felt a bit cliche and unnecessary. Overall After All was a great stand-alone contemporary romance with awesome characters. I also loved catching up with Will and Jackie (from Before I Ever Met You), and wouldn't mind other characters from this book getting their own story.
Karina Halle is the master when it comes to female heroines. Lots of the girls in romance novels are pushovers, but not in a Karina Halle novel! I loved Alyssa so much!! Her personality and how she was with Emmett, who could be a handful (literally lol), was awesome and she is someone I would love to call a friend. And Emmett, well he just made me warm and tingly all over and I absolutely loved him. He was funny and gives Will a real run for his money in the swoon department. (And I loved Will!) This is a standalone romance, but Will and Jackie did make an appearance, so those Before I Ever Met You fans will love that. This book was just a delicious treat!
Oh gosh, I always feel like I can never do Karina's books justice with a review, but I will try.... I know I have said this previously, but it must be repeated--the way Karina describes a location, or a character's outfit is so vivid that when I go to google it it's spot on. I honestly love that in a book it adds to the layers of the story. You know what else I love? Excellent dialogue and After All definitely has that in my opinion. The emotions I went through while reading this book probably would not have happened at the level that they did for me if the dialogue was lacking. Oh and the chemistry was off the charts, I felt the tension and highly enjoyed the steamy scenes. This story will go on my re-read list for sure. Thank you Karina for allowing me to read this book before the release!
I'm dying to tell everyone about this book and how good it is...without any spoilers! GAH! This book takes secondary characters from Before I Ever Met You and gives them their own story. It starts at Jackie and Will's wedding - Alyssa is the prickly friend, a "Marilyn in a Gigi Hadid world" who is not impressed with Will's groomsman Emmett, a bad-boy tv actor. From the start, they're throwing jabs at each other. She thinks he's cheesy but hot. He was warned to stay away from her. A quick wedding reception romp leads to leaked photos, and now the two have to pretend to be in a relationship to save his image. The "fake relationship" trope has been done before, but this one was done well. Karina really needs to stop writing great books - I'm not getting any work done, the dishes are in the sink, there's no food in the fridge! Seriously!! The world just stops when I start one of her books. No angst in this one - just a bunch of fun sexy times and a great summer romance read!
