Overview

It is 1941 and what Jordan has been dreading has finally come to pass. What will happen over the next few years will change life as the McKennas, the town of Dooley, Georgia, and the world forever.
From Pearl Harbor to Burma; from Toccoa, Georgia and the beginnings of the US Airborne Division to the French underground to Operation Husky in Sicily, the McKenna men will be scattered far and wide as they leave their homes and families to go to war.
They are the warriors, but the wives, children, and parents left behind will have to be warriors, too. The events that unfold will impact the many branches of the McKenna Family for decades to come.

About the Author

Heidi Peaster was born into a sprawling, Southern family and raised on family stories. These stories fascinated her. As she says: "Every family has a story; some almost impossible to be believed."
She began writing about her fictitious family, the McKennas, when she and Roger, her husband of 42 years, were raising their own biological daughters, fostering 40 abused and neglected children and finally adopting 6. During naptime, she would retreat to the fictional town of Dooley and the McKennas, writing in long hand on dozens of yellow note pads, storing them in her basement.
When she and Roger and their remaining 5 kids moved to North Georgia to retire, she began publishing the McKenna books. Their immediate fan base resulted in the release of 3 of the McKenna books in the first year.
Peaster is pleased that her "alter Family" has acquired such an enthusiastic following. "The McKennas deserve some recognition," she states. "After all, they helped me raise all these kids!"
