After a six-year hiatus, Sarah McLachlan is back with an album as powerful and moving as her previous accomplishments. This album features many songs that will be memorable for years to come. A must buy! Listen to Fallen, Stupid, and Trainwreck.

6 long years...shes come back and done so beautifully. I admit, 'Afterglow' is quite different from what I'm used to, Sarah Mclachlan-wise but its still her where ever song has a Uniqueness. Shes not afraid to write whats there inside and she can do it without going overboard. Shes a beautiful person, and her music reflects that. All the songs are great, my favorites are "Fallen", "Time", "World on Fire".

Sarah's voice is absolutely stunning. I thoroughly enjoyed EVERY song on this CD. Everything from her voice, lyrics(!!), and instrumentals is breathtaking. This is a MUST HAVE!!! It's one of her very best. Can she captivate her listener, or what?!

I have been waiting a long time for Sarah to release another album. When I put it in tonight it was like catching up with an old friend. I had been hoping for a new sound, a new look, but when I listened to the whole CD I was so glad that she didn't change anything. It's classis Sarah. Even though there isn't an "Ice Cream" sing along on this CD, it's still smooth and comforting. It's so good to catch up with old friends!

Sarah is the best singer I have ever heard... Her voice is as haunting as ever.

Yes...Mirrorball had all (fake but worthy) applause and cheering played before each song, but it was much better than Aferglow! I bought Afterglow because of the song Fallen, which was to me, the only song that I liked on this CD. Her vocals are good, but the other songs didn't seem to have a good melody like Fallen did. Disappointed, but maybe if I listen more, I'll like it. Maybe.

Sarah MaC is the best artist, seen and heard. This cd is so refreshing, but all her cd's have their own theme to them. Its just like living her life through them. I read on another review that one her cds was NOT recommended but I can proudly say that I own ALL of them and ALL of them are amazing in their own way.

It's without doubt that Sarah's voice will always be beautiful, but with this album I often found myself a little frustrated. I was expecting something of the raw, spunky, edgy strength of Mirrorball and Surfacing, but she never seems to break beyond her smooth and gentle tones, to the point that it almost seems dulled down. Yes, it's pretty and graceful, but it's not powerful.

If objectivity were a prerequisit for quality songwriting, society would crummble. The ability to step back and take time to reflect then place those reflections into a recordable format is a lost art. Sara MacLaughlin defines objectivity. Her latest effort, Afterglow, is no exception. It is not only laden with objective lyrical content, but also rhythmic stylings, pacings and arrangemental motions which have been the signature of MacLaughlin's music from her hummble Canadian beginnings. Her nearly six-year absence from the music industry did nothing to tarnish Afterglow. She earned a break, especially as she entered motherhood for the first time. There is a difference here. You know how good TV shows have been ruined when the two principle players shack up? It could be argued that new mothers and subsequent albums are equally fouled with reflective diatribes on the pains of motherdom and various domestic bliss (with all due respect to every mom!) Not this record. It's tastefully dark, brooding in places countered with appropriate cheer, only to be punctuated with careful orchestration and peerless production from longtime MacLaughlin knob turner, Pierre Marchand. A question remains - where will MacLaughlin's music fit in today's music melting pot? The industry kitchen is stirring pot O' gruel and serving up plates of Pink Avril bisque, Beyonce broccholi Spears, finishing off with a bowl of creamy Aquilera. Fortunately, the question is rhetorical. MacLaughlin doesn't need record sales and constant touring. She has three Grammys on her mantle and her Lilith Fair project helped bring music by women - legitimate women's music - to the forefront with a number of tours and live albums. Shawn Colvin, Liz Phair and Queen Latifah are all Lilith vets. It could be argued they've made it on their own anyway, but so did Sara MacLaughlin, in her own, objective sort of way.

This album is a collection of expertly-written, skillfully-crafter original songs. Everyone of them has a creative tune and thoughtful lyrics. Sara McLachlan is clearly one of the outstanding talents of this musical era.

Once again, Sarah makes an absolutely beautiful album. Why would we expect less? The only complaint that I have is that it's too short with 10 tracks, but even if there were 30 tracks, it would be too short, as I cannot get enough of her angelic voice!

I can rightfully call this Sarah's best ever album. As soon as you put it into the CD player, you are swept up in the regretful embrace of "Fallen." Afterglow includes SM's second single "World on Fire," bringing the modern worlds feel into this long awaited masterpiece. I have never been so happy to fork over twenty bucks, honestly. One of my favorites on this album is "Drifting," which is about being a super-star, and forgetting about the things that matter. My personal fav is the night time whispered farytale, "Answer." Another incredible break through for Sarah is her first official happy song: "Push." Dedicated to her husband. I absolutely love this CD. The best i own. Fumbling Towards Ecstacy is a sad joke next to Afterglow, but Surfacing is just as good. When you listen to Afterglow, you can sense something in Sarah. A change. Almost as if she has become more comfortable with her very own voice. It is really quite amazing, and nothing sends me to sleep faster than listening to "Answer."

I love this cd! the songs are so full of emotion and the lyrics are great. "Fallen" and "Stupid" are one of Sarah's best songs. This cd has a permanent spot in my cd-player.

I absolutely LOVE this new cd! I pre-ordered it and started playing it every day as soon as I received it. Our girls, 8 & 10, received their first CD Walkmans for Christmas and this was the first CD the girls wanted. My husband is also a big fan. Sarah's voice is one of the most beautiful instruments I have ever heard and she improves with every new release!

Sarah McLachlan gracefully returns after nearly 5 or 6 years absence with "Afterglow". I've been a long-time fan of Sarah's music but I did not really love "Surfacing" as an entire album. There are no surprises on "Afterglow", just classic Sarah. Vocally and musically, Sarah is at peak form on all the songs. There are no weak songs on this CD. You can easily listen through the entire album without skipping any tracks. There are no jarring tracks, so there is great flow through the entire CD. I've read some reviews that criticized "Afterglow" for lacking variety and being too mellow. However, I found the consistency through the album to be a strong point. I also think that some listeners (who do not listen carefully) misunderstand the peace, calm, tranquil confidence that Sarah exudes for being too mellow, disinterested, or lacking passion. Anyone who begs to differ should listen carefully to "Stupid" where Sarah's vocals convey fiery passion and sorrow. The instrumentals and vocal arrangements are superb, as usual, throughout the CD. Even when Sarah is not at her best, she is still better than most of the rest. "Afterglow" is the "answer" that her audience has been waiting for during her respite. With heavenly and soulful whispers, Sarah's "answer" resounds clearly and loudly that she continues to "burn bright".

I enjoyed the song Fallen so much,I purchased this CD. Not as impressed with the other nine tracks. I guess I was expecting a CD as awesome as Mirrorball. But, after listening a few more times, I am beginning to appreciate the other songs. Sarah's voice is beautiful, its almost as if the other songs are overshadowed by the haunting melody of Fallen. I now enjoy five of the ten songs on the CD, so I am not sorry I purchased it.I think it will become a favorite.

I really enjoy listening to this song because it makes me feel good about myself ... it also helps me cheer up when I'm feeling blue ...

I have never bought an album where I have liked all the tracks. This is an exception. Every song in this collection has a meaning and melody that are so captivating and Sarah's voice is beyond compare. As cliche' as this will sound, she has the voice of an angel
