About the Author

I began my writing career over 20 years ago while in grad school at Saint Louis University getting my Masters in Social Work. My first publication was a chapter I co-wrote with one of my professors that was accepted for publication before graduation and shortly thereafter had two more independent research projects published in scholarly journals.

After graduation I took my love of reading and writing and combined it with my passion for education and began writing articles about issues of importance to older adults in a local senior newspaper, social service agency newsletters, and an online blog through .

I have also published three books, AI And Writing: Dangers to Journalists and Creative Writers (2024), The ABCs of Living Independently When You Are Elderly or Frail (2nd Ed. 2023), and The Ultimate Beginner's Guide to Clean Living: Tips, Tools and Tricks for Your Body and Home, in 2016.

None of these assignments paid, so I began looking for jobs on freelance websites. In 2017, I began editing dissertations for local PhD students and editing novels for friends looking to self-publish. My reputation began to build, but I had to work other jobs to make ends meet until 2019 when I became a full-time reporter for the Times-Tribune Newspaper in Troy, IL.

In June of 2020, I was promoted to editor where I remained until April of 2022 to finally focus exclusively on Write By Steph.
