Aiden (Vested Interest, #2) by Melanie Moreland

"This is a great idea."
Aiden had jumped up, fist punched the air, and yelled, "That's how we do it! BAM!"
It stuck. Our initials, our ideas, our brand. My brothers.

Three young men meet in university and form a lifelong friendship.
Their pasts dictate the men they are, but their present shapes their future.
What happens when these men meet the one person they are destined to be with? Can they fight their feelings and walk away? Or will they each succumb and learn the sweet agony of love?

Haunted by memories of his past, Aiden plays the part of the happy-go-lucky friend. Always ready with a teasing smile or a joke, he is good at hiding his pain.
Using his impressive physique as a shield, he keeps his past buried beneath his rugged exterior.
Except, one woman sees through his façade.
Her green eyes see too much, even as her body tempts him.
Even as his heart yearns for her.
Cami is determined to make him realize that he is worthy of being loved.
He pushes her away at every turn, yet finds himself unable to keep her at arm's length.
Who will win this battle of love?

## DISAPPOINTED for sure. I loved Bentley's story. I was so sure I'd love this one as well, especially because I liked Aiden so much in Bentley's book. Wow, was I wrong. I couldn't stand Aiden. He would constantly lead the heroine on, calling to spend time with her, having sex with her, touching her, texting her, watching movies with her, but immediately after telling her it meant nothing. She's just a friend with benefits even though he knew she wanted more. When she spontaneously kissed him at the bowling alley, he freaked out again and told her he doesn't want her THAT way. He doesn't want a relationship. What a d*ck thing to do. He should've just left her alone since he knew he was hurting her more and more with each encounter. And Cami frustrated me too. Omg, just stop seeing him. Stop saying yes when he wants to go eat "but it's not a date". Stop saying yes when he says "you're staying with me". Have some pride and say NO. He gets to have his cake and eat it too. Figures. I am not a fan of the typical commitment phobe and the needy heroine, so I was just mad for most of this book. Sorry, I can't recommend this one.

Great addition to a brilliant series Review Melanie Moreland certainly has a hit series on her hands with Vested Interest, just when you think it can’t get any better she throws us another great read about the men from BAM. Aiden is the man that everyone see’s as the life and soul of the party but that’s what he wants us to see, he doesn’t want the outside world really knowing the man behind the mask, a mask he wears so well. Aiden is your typical alpha, strong, broody, protector and very loyal but does anyone really know him and will he ever let a woman see the real man. Cami is the woman we would all love to be, strong, sassy, funny. kind and caring but she has fallen for the one man who won’t let her get close, the man that is so intent on fighting his own demons he doesn’t see what’s in front of him that is until the tables are turned and this normally strong woman is in danger. This book will keep you on the edge of your seat, it will have you rooting for a hea for Aiden and Cami because they are both realistic characters that need each other. This author got the perfect mix of love and tension in Aiden and Maddox can’t come soon enough for me. Great series, great book. (less)

After thoroughly enjoying Bentley, I couldn’t wait to get my hands on Aiden—going on first introductions, he clearly had a story to tell. “She deserved so much more than I could ever be for her.” One thing you can be almost certain of when you pick up a Melanie Moreland book is that you’re going to be greeted with a man to love and Aiden absolutely ticked that box for me. Guarded, protective and incredibly funny, this mountain of a man is complex as how others see him is not how he sees himself. And as happy as he is that Bentley has found the woman he wants to spend the rest of his life with, for him that‘s not on the cards—something he’s made clear to Cami and she accepts—but that line soon becomes a little blurred and events unfold. “I feel so much, and I’m terrified of what I feel.” Stubborn and patient, Cami wears her heart on her sleeve and is selfless, prepared to let go of the man she loves for his own wellbeing and her own self-preservation—for that I loved her. And whilst one particular element of this story was fairly predictable and didn’t hold a huge amount of surprise (for me), it still played an important role in bringing moments which tug on your heart as we‘re introduced to Aiden’s more vulnerable side. “I want to be the missing piece to your world.” With plenty of humour coming courtesy of the guys and their banter, Melanie Moreland has brought her reader another worthy addition to the Vested Interest series and now begins the wait to discover what’s in store for last man standing, Maddox and Cami’s sister, Dee who so far have been happily dancing the horizontal tango string-free.

5 star Review Aiden (Vested Interest #2) by Melanie Moreland Melanie Moreland drew me into the story from the first page; I kept thinking just one more chapter. I loved the characters of Aiden and Cami and all the secondary ones and having already read Bentley and now Aiden, I know that this is going to be one of my favourite series of 2018. The story was well written, engaging and it was great to see the growth of both the main characters as the book evolved. Aiden is such a tortured character, always putting on an act, the life of the party, never wanting anyone to see below the surface. He feels unworthy of being loved and Cami is bound and determined to show him how much he deserves to be loved and to love. I really didn’t want to start this book as I have been anticipating reading Aiden since I finished Bentley (who is mine). Ms. Moreland well and truly delivered a story that had me engrossed from start to finish and I cannot wait to see what happens in the next book. There is so much to love about her characters, the depth and layers that she weaves throughout her stories reminds me of peeling an onion, layer by layer and Aiden was just such a book. The friendships between Aiden, Bentley and Maddox is truly heartfelt, the love , laughter and obvious care they have for one another is swoon worthy in and of itself, as is the friendships of Cami, Emmy and Dee and you have a group of people anyone would be proud to call friends. I cannot wait to read Maddox.

Move over Bentley, I’ve got myself a new book boyfriend. Fickle of me I know, but, who cares, Aiden Callaghan ticks every single one of my boxes. While Aiden is emotionally closed off and doesn’t talk about his past or his upbringing, ever, Cami Wilson is his exact opposite, she’s an open book, she’s sweet, strong, loyal, and she loves passionately. I got so many feels reading Aiden, my emotions were all over the place. I watched Cami battle with her demons when she felt her life was spiralling out of control as her mothers illness come back to haunt her. Aiden too brought a tear to my eye when his ghosts came back to haunt him on a regular basis.. Together they worked so well, I wanted to shout at Aiden and tell him to stop being so stubborn. In true Vested Interest form we also have added suspense to the story, this time when we discover someone may be out to get Cami. Aiden to the rescue. Again the banter between Aiden, Bentley and Maddox is hilarious, it doesn’t hurt that they’re all sexy as sin. I love these guys and the girls that seem to be taking over their lives.

BAM... I'm loving this series and these men so much!! Aiden: the one who I found the most intriguing in Bentley. He was definitely a mystery and I had a hard time being patient for his story. There's always something more behind the guy who makes everyone laugh and I didn't want to wait to know what it was. But Tree Trunk and Cami were definitely worth it. I loved the suspense part of this book. MM does a fantastic job of keeping you guessing and on the edge of your seat. I'm counting down the days to Maddox!!

I love a damaged hero and damaged is what you get with Aiden. Afraid of grabbing his own happiness based on his past, he enters into a "relationship" with Cami that is no relationship at all. He fights it tooth and nail! Cami takes more than I think she should've, but she saw to the heart of Aiden. This was emotionally charged, heartbreaking, and eventually, they get to their HEA. Nice story to get lost in.

Fantastic read by Melanie Moreland! Aiden isn’t your typical romance. It is also a story about friendship, self discovery, letting go of your past, and finally letting yourself be loved and loving others. Aiden appears to have it, good looks, and a wonderful friendship with his best friends, Bentley and Maddox. What others don’t see is his inability to trust and allowing himself to be loved. His friend, Bentley, is in a relationship with Emmy. Emmy has a best friend, Cami, whom Aiden has been attracted to since he first saw her. They have an with no strings, and no one else is to know about this arrangement. In the beginning, Cami is okay with it. As she spends more time with him, she realizes she has a problem...she genuinely cares for Aiden. However, she knows he will probably never give her what she wants most, his heart. Aiden is quite the complicated character. Like I said, he seems to be living every man’s dream, but underneath, he is still that little boy who was abused and neglected. The people who were supposed to love him abandoned him and treating him terribly. When he thinks of love, it’s always associated with pain. He never wants to return to a place like that again. What he doesn’t realize is the gift he has in Cami. Cami doesn’t love him for what he has, she loves him because of who he is as a man. Cami is an extraordinary woman. She is beautiful, determined, never giving up on her dreams despite the obstacles she has faced. She is strong, and her most special quality is loving with her whole heart. She is willing to give that to Aiden if he will just take that wonderful give she is offering him. The romance is steamy, but there are also some very tender moments as well. I loved the friendship between Aiden, Bentley, and Maddox. It really is heartwarming. Aiden will go on a journey and discover who he really is as a man with Cami alongside of him. What makes the book even better is the suspense that is interweaved throughout, and it really keeps the storyline moving at a fast pace. I highly recommend reading if you like your romance with a little spice and sweetness, and a dash of suspense mixed in!!!! ***Read and Reviewed for Devilishly Delicious Book Reviews***

Having read the previous book in the trilogy, I was really excited when I found out the author was going to write a book about Aiden. He is a very instrumental character in the first book and we finally get to learn more about him in this book. As VP and head of security for BAM, Aiden Callaghan is used to being in control over every situations in his job. Although has managed to become wealthy and successful in his job, his past has made it difficult for him to learn to believe in love. It is when Cami shows up in his life that he has the desire to truly be with her and protect her that shows how much he wants to change. But when her life is threatened, Aiden takes her to his house where she ends up staying until the problem is solved. That’s when he starts to spend more time with her and trusts her enough to tell her about his past. He knows that she deserves so much better than what he is willing to offer, but when he realizes just how much he loves, it’ll be up to him to prove to her that they can truly be happy together. Cami Wilson is a university student who is currently studying fashion design and works at a high-end boutique in hopes of working for a clothing company one day. Although she is focused on finishing with school, she never expected to meet Aiden and feel incredibly attractive to him. He is incredibly good looking and protective, but no matter what she does she can’t get him to truly date her. He has let her know that their relationship can’t go any further than that and she has to accept that. But things start to change the minute her things start to go missing and things turn for the worse when her life is at risk. Cami has her own demons to fight and when Aiden starts to trust her with things about his past she begins to feel closer to him. Now she has to find a way to get him to see what she sees in him in order to convince him that they can have a future together. I loved this book, it was steamy and full of twists and turns. It’s evident that both of the characters have pasts that they’re trying to get over, but when they’re together they’re able to see a future with each other. Aiden is you’re typical swoon worthy character who is protective and will do anything in order to make sure that Cami is safe. Cami is such a strong character who knows what she wants and is not afraid to get it. There is a bit of thriller/mystery in the story that made it that much more interesting, it was a complete page-turner from beginning to end. I absolutely loved the ending, but I wish the author could have ended it a bit differently. All in all, the story was well written and enjoyable to read. I would highly recommend reading this book and any others by the author, you will not regret it. :) ***ARC provided in exchange for an honest review.***

I love Aiden!!! I wasn't sure that I would love him as much as Bentley but I did and so much more. I'm a root for the underdog kind of person and I felt like that while reading this book. Aiden while very much successful now can't seem to see the man he is today but the boy he once was. I love that Cami can not only see Aiden but draw him out. I loved Cami so much for being willing to break her own heart just to give Aiden what he needed. There were a few great twists that made this story even better than expected. It was great to catch with the whole BAM gang. I would make sure to read this series in order. I can't wait for Maddox's book!!!

Aiden is Book 2 in this author's Vested Interest series of interconnected standalones. I did not read the first book and was still able to enjoy this one. There were several references to events in the first book which I was able to piece together without issue. The series focuses on three college friends who go into business together and become very successful. This is Aiden's book. How I love a damaged hero and Aiden certainly fit the bill. A truly horrendous childhood has shaped a man that refuses to give or accept love. Enter Cami, our heroine. I loved Cami. Sweet, kind, independent and courageous. She cares deeply for Aiden who continues to push her away, insisting their relationship be only physical. I loved how she never gave up on him, wanting him to see that he was worthy of being loved. Accepting her affection is so difficult for him resulting in him shutting down emotionally more often than not. A bit of a suspense storyline here which I liked even though I quickly figured out the evil-doer in this scenario. A threat to Cami was the emotional breakthrough Aiden needed to change his thinking. To realize that he needed her, could love her, and in return accept her love. An enjoyable read overall. I will be on the lookout for Maddox and Dee's book which will be up next. Aiden doesn’t let people in. Nobody including Cami who he admits is his sunshine. However when Cami is in danger can he let her in? A great book with more from the fantastic characters at BAM. I am looking forward to Maddox and Dee's story.

Aiden is the 2nd book in this series and shows us another side to this man! A man that has a part of his past that has most definitely defined who he is today. To be quite honest I really wanted to give him a big hug. His friends Bentley and Maddox are his ‘brothers’ as well as business partners and they have each others backs! The banter in this book is great! The friendships wonderful and there is also an element of suspense too! I loved how Aiden became with Cami and I admired the way they interacted with each other despite the past and other things that occur! I loved Cami and her friendship with Emmy is really great, I also loved how Cami and her sister were! A really enjoyable read!

4.5 Happy stars I knew after reading Bentley, that I wanted to know more about both Maddox and Aiden. Here in book two, it is Aiden’s turn. He’s a bit of a tortured soul of a man, one who doesn’t do emotional entanglements. He just doesn’t feel the need to put himself ‘out there’ like that. He does have some humorous moments. He can be charming and light-hearted but mostly he’s guarded and insular. Cami is the complete opposite. She’s light to his dark, and she wants to make Aiden her man. Aiden explains how he handles relationships and despite her agreeing to his rules, it’s obvious she wants more. She wants the whole man, not just the physical side of him. Aiden has quite a journey ahead of his to become the man she sees beneath his gruff, grumbly, grouchy exterior.Learning to trust and to open himself to being hurt by another person is almost a traumatic event for him. This is a man with hidden layers, ones he doesn’t want exposed to anyone’s eyes because he feels unworthy of love and acceptance. Can Cami break through all his walls and release the wounded hero inside? Will Aiden find it in himself to face his past and put all his demons behind him? Find out when you One-Click this great story today.

Aiden is the second book in the Vested Interest series. What an amazing addition to that series! I loved this book! It’s beautiful and emotional. Aiden tells us Aiden and Cami’s love story. If you have read the first book, Bentley, than you already know Aiden and Cami. Aiden is one of Bentley’s best friends and Cami is Emmy’s best friend. Cami is sweet, loving, kind, feisty, supportive and passionate. She goes to college and works at a store. She can be very busy, but she always find time for her sister and her best friend. Cami is very close to her sister and she can always count on her. She’s also very close to Emmy and she’s happy that Emmy has found true love with Bentley. Cami is attracted to Aiden and she wants him. Aiden is strong, rich, caring, protective and a little closed off. His childhood wasn’t pretty and that has an impact on his present life. Aiden has achieved a lot in his life and he is the co-owner of a successful company. Aiden is a great friend. When Cami needs his help, he drops everything and helps her. He would do anything for her. Cami and Aiden are (kind of) friends with benefits. Cami wants more, but Aiden keeps her at a distant. He thinks Cami deserves better than him and he doesn’t do commitment. But Aiden is actually perfect for Cami, just like she is perfect for him. Cami only wants Aiden and she just waits until he’s ready for more. I loved Cami and Aiden as a couple. They are hot and beautiful. They believe in each other and they are there for each other. I loved it that Bentley and Emmy appeared sometimes and they are still in love. I adore them so much. I can’t wait for Maddox’s book! He’s the third man of BAM. I’m curious about what he’s hiding from his friends. I also want him to be finally together with his woman. There is also a man I got to know a little better in this novel and I won’t mind it if he gets his own book.

Book 2 in the Vested Interest series and the BAM boys, I was really looking forward to this one after reading Book 1 Bentley where we got to meet all 3 BAM boys (Bentley, Aiden & Maddox) but which featured mainly on Bentley. Aiden had me intrigued from Book 1, he seemed to play the bodyguard role and right hand man for Bentley, but there seemed something about him that was troubled and broken, and I couldn't wait to find out more about him!! At the start of the book you get an insight into Aiden's childhood, showing why he is the way he is today and how he sees himself and how he acts. Aiden is most definitely Alpha through and through, hot, sexy, possessive, protective whilst being broken and damaged from his childhood, relationships are a no go for him, but he just can't stay away from Cami. He finds himself opening up a little to her before realising what he's done and slamming those walls right back up again, hurting himself and Cami in the process. At times I felt like I could've easily throttled him for his behaviour - always the sign of a good book and character when they get to you like that!! Cami herself hasn't had the best of childhoods, with her sister Dee being more like a mother. She is open and honest, caring and kind, loyal and so very patient with Aiden. She feels drawn to Aiden like no other, and wants nothing more than to help fix him, but he has to want that from her too!! A great story line that really caught my attention, full of romance, hot sexiness, angst, suspense and drama that really had me turning those pages!! I loved Aiden and his brokenness and his battle to overcome his darkness by letting Cami be his light. I can't wait for book 3 and to meet Maddox now. Highly recommended reading this series!

My entire Monday was spent on devouring this book by Melanie Moreland. When the first chapter of Bentley was read, I said "I need to know more about this friend of his." He is funny, and charming. That friend who is always there to lend a hand and help you out. I love a man who can make you laugh and laugh at himself. He is protective of those around him so all the boxes for my 'book boyfriend' were checked off. But this man has layers. So many layers. I didn't expect Aiden to take me on the emotional journey of learning to open your heart and acceptance. We all find our space in life. Carve out the protective moat and allow only a few in. Aiden not only doesn't desire a long term relationship, he deems himself unworthy. But he wiggles under your skin where you can't help but want him to find his happy. Cami is the perfect heroine. She's out to save the hero from himself, but not at the cost of losing herself. After a personal wake up call, she realizes that sometimes showing love is by setting it free. Each character struggles with their personal demons, but it's Cami's strength that pulls them through. This has been an unexpected but wholly delightful journey in watching the men of BAM tell their stories. Next up is the final letter. I do not doubt Melanie Moreland will disappoint but grow stronger as we get to know Maddox. 5 out of 5 everyone deserves to be loved stars.

I absolutely enjoy the friendship and brotherhood between Bentley, Aiden and Maddox, and the friendship and sisterhood between Emmy, Cami and Dee. This author does not disappoint with this book and I enjoyed it a lot. I definitely look forward to reading the next book in this series. This book had the right amount of romance and suspense, and the chemistry and steam between Aiden and Cami was undeniable. Aiden might have fought a hard fight against falling in love, but when it came to his actions they said the words he wouldn't, and it spoke volumes. There were some parts of the story that I predicted but I wasn't ready for that ending. It was sweet and yet I felt a little bad for Dee. However, I was left wanting more, more of BAM and their girls and I can't wait to see what happens with Mad Dog Maddox and Dee. This is a great series that has great characters, friendships, finding love, facing fears and taking that leap that is worth everything.

Aiden is the VP of BAM, a company which he formed with his brothers of the heart Bentley and Maddox. He is damaged by this past and only allows Bentley and Maddox close. He makes it clear to any woman that he is involved with that it will only ever be physical and not to expect anything more and up until he met Cami he stuck to that rule. Cami is studying fashion design and her past has been difficult as well. She is a wonderful sister, a great friend and from the moment she met Aiden she felt something unlike anything else she had ever felt. Although he is quite clear that on his part it is a physical only relationship she sees beneath the walls he has built around his heart. She will prove to him that he is worthy of being loved and is willing to be patient, but will he ever be willing to open up his heart or is she destined to walk away with a broken heart? I enjoyed both these characters as Aiden is tortured by feeling that he is not enough and will only hurt Cami and while Cami may appear that she is weak for putting up with what she did from Aiden it really shows her strength of knowing what she wants and being willing to go after it. I anxiously await Maddox’s story. I voluntarily reviewed an Advanced Reader Copy of this book.

I absolutely love a tortured hero like Aiden. He had a terrible start to life but has found the family he never had in his friends and business partners, Bentley and Maddox. I love their banter, but mostly their unconditional support. It was in the first book when Aiden was helping Bentley that he met Cami. She understood his demons like no other and he felt a peace around her that he needed. I loved how strong, loyal, and independent Cami was. She loved her friends and family fiercely, and wanted to include Aiden in her heart as well. But Aiden couldn't open himself up to her completely. When Cami's life is threatened, will it be too late for Aiden to realize he already did? I loved this storyline, it was creepy, suspenseful, and exhilarating. I also loved seeing more about these friends and their dynamic. They made me laugh, cry, and swoon! We also were teased with more of Maddox and Dee's relationship and I am so excited to learn more. Don't miss this fun, breathtaking, and sexy series!

***4.5 ‘Sunshine’ Stars*** After finishing Bentley I wanted more of these characters, it didn’t matter who or what combo, just more because I loved them all, separately and together. So it’s no surprise that I jumped at getting my hands on Aiden and Cami’s book and I loved it. It was funny, smexy, frustrating and heartwarming with a good amount of humor as well as a good dose of suspense tossed into the mix to make things interesting. Aiden. Aiden. Aiden...this man. Such a huge heart, but one that is so battered by his past that it’s made him not only blind that what’s in front of him, but taking on more responsibility that he needs to. I loved Aiden. I wanted to hug him so badly, but boy the urge to hammer some sense into him was just as strong. Cami is sweet, sassy, has a huge heart and due to her past, which definitely all wine and roses, has a quiet maturity about her that made it easy to like her. Cami and Aiden’s journey has a lot of bumps in it thanks to all the push/pull going on between them despite the raging chemistry anytime they are together. It was frustrating and yet I couldn’t truly fault either for the dance that they put themselves through. They both have scars, some run deeper than others, and they just needed that one push that would either bring them together or rip them apart. Of course that push was a little craycray, but it was the catalyst needed to get them to their HEA and I loved how it all worked out. I pretty much devoured this book, especially the latter half. It was engaging and though some spots dragged for me, the pacing was a good one. The difference between this one and Bentley for me was the suspense aspect. In Bentley I had no clue who was the villian, but in Aiden, I got it right away and one would think that would put a damper on things, but it didn’t. It actually upped the ante when it came to the anticipation of what would happen next and when and the craycray intense feel was on point. As for the supporting cast of characters. I loved hanging out with everyone, Bentley, Emmy, Maddox, Dee, Sandy and Reid. They are all so much fun and the family vibe is real. I’m totally looking forward to getting my hands on Maddox’s book, but I wouldn’t mind if Reid got a book/HEA down the road because he definitely intrigues me. ~ Copy provided via InkSlinger PR & voluntarily reviewed ~

Melanie Moreland shows her maturity as an author in this Vested Interest series. Aiden is the one book you should not miss to read... This book is something else, it is sweet, mature and yet so sexy. Cami and Aiden are a wonderful, wonderful couple, who have to face a lot of troubles to be together including his's traumas caused by a horrible family. Cami is the light for the dark place his family put him on and she has to reach for him and be patient. You cannot miss this book and all the Vested Interest series!

He's the life of the party when everyone's around. Aiden knows how to turn on the charm and make the whole world his stage, but when the lights tone down and the crowds disappear his demons continue to haunt and push him around. Cami brings light into an often dark place. She sees the shadows that linger in his eyes and longs to rescue his soul. Can the boy that nobody wanted become the man she needs him to be? A broken heart, a damaged soul and an unlikely heroine light up the night with compassion and romance. Moreland fires up the senses with some wicked temptation and heartfelt motivation. Inspiration is only an alpha away.
