Fifteen contributions offer a comprehensive overview of AIDS as a
gender issue, drawing on international expertise to provide an
analysis of a diverse aspects of HIV and AIDS. The psychological,
medical, and social ramifications of AIDS for women are examined as
the chapters explore such topics as quality of life, children,
orphans, drug use, and the ability of women to access services. These
issues are addressed as they pertain to a variety of contexts such as
sex, work, prisons, family, and the developing world.
