About the Author
Douglas used to sing in rock bands and work as a disc jockey for various radio stations, and he once got a really bad sunburn from driving a motorcycle all day in only a pair of gym shorts (bad idea). His love of monsters began after watching old scary movies on TV with his grandfather on Saturday nights.
He loves reading old comics and snorkeling in the ocean, whenever he can find an ocean to swim in; which, as it turns out, doesn't happen very often in Missouri.
Though he's still holding out hope.

ALEX KERLEY AND THE WRATH OF THE VAMPIRE by Douglas Tanner is an interesting Middle Grade/Young Adult/Inspirational/Horror Age group: 12 and up. The Monster Hunters#2, but can be read as a stand alone. See, "Alex Kerley and the Terror of Bigfoot". Four months after....Bigfoot in the Ozark Mountains... In this one,Alex and his friends, confront, who else? But a vampire in southeast Kansas. He has been stalking them, watching them, knows who they are, knows Alex's father works for a government that tracks monsters, and now he is out for revenge. This one is based on the Bender family of the 1800's , a group of serial killers in Kansas. While, this is an entertaining, fun, tale of vampires, revenge, chaos, monsters, courage, danger, and hope, it is also scary, complex, and did I, mention scary. However, with this said middle grade children, or young readers, will enjoy this fast paced, adventure filled tale of revenge and yes, vampires. With engaging characters, an interesting storyline, and delightful dialogue, I can see how young readers would enjoy Alex, his friends, and the chaos around them. Even with or because of, a cliffhanger, readers are sure to hold their breath, until the next installment! We need more! An interesting and exciting tale to be sure. I can hardly wait for the next installment. Received for an honest review from the author. Please be aware: (Due to the recommended age group of 12 and up) This is a scary story, especially for young readers, with some very gruesome elements, such as violence, blood and gore. I would, as the author has suggested, use parental guidance when reading this tale. RATING: 4.5 HEAT RATING: Mild *Due to violence, blood and gore, and the recommended age group(12 & up)* REVIEWED BY: AprilR, courtesy of My Book Addiction and More
Although there isn't much variation on the old vampire stories, I can see how kids might like this book. There's lots of action, some blood and gore, and some funny moments. When Douglas Tanner is writing well, the story flows along nicely. But, the writing is choppy--sometimes frantic and jumbled--and, with they myriad of characters introduced, is hard to follow in places. Tanner also doesn't introduce any kind of new twist to the vampire story. In this book, the kids and their parents are off on a hunt for a vampire--a pretty scary one at that--but the vampires themselves are pretty standard vampires--they freak out if you show them a cross, they don't like the sun, etc. Characters need a little more development--the only one fairly fleshed out is the comic foil Ethan, who manages to display more personality through his frequent "toots" than any of the other characters. But kids, especially young boys, might like this book.
