About the Author

Sande Jones-Elkins lives on a farm in East Tennessee with her husband, Steve and two cats, a dog and four horses. She has been drawing and creating art for as long as she can remember. For over thirty years she has created whimsical wood sculpture that has sold world wide. Her work has been featured in newspapers, magazines and on national TV. She spent many years as a freelance designer for the home and gift industry. Her whole room concepts were very popular and one year, they adorned the set of the Today show at Christmas time. After her husband gave her a beautiful, dappled gray mare named Mouse for her birthday, she spent many years concentrating on equine photography with Mouse as her main model and muse. Mouse and her influence still appear often in Sande's work although now she is not only back to her roots using wood as her medium but also branching out to many old favorites, like pen and ink and painting, and many new mediums like encaustic and woodblock printing. After many friends asked her to allow them to color prints of her pen and ink drawings, Sande decided to create a coloring book. The first book was based on characters from Lewis Carroll's Alice's Adventures in Wonderland. She enjoyed the process so much that several more books are planned for the coming year.
