This is a great book for anyone wanting to know more about Attention Deficit Disorder. This book is very reader/user friendly! I am using it for my Senior Project research paper! It's a great source!!
A primer for ADD, All About Attention Deficit Disorder covers all the bases: what to look for, how to diagnose, and how to treat attention deficit disorder. This book is one-stop shopping, in that it helps parents, educators, and those living with someone having ADD -- all in one resource. As a novice to the subject of ADD, I find that a big timer saver! Dr. Phelan introduces us to the world of living with ADD, one symptom at a time. With so many myths and misdiagnoses in the media and educational system, it's good to know about the variables and distinctions between the types of disorders. As a professional organizer, I especially found the information about disorganization useful, because so many of my clients suffer from ADD or chronic disorganization. Often adults have lived with this disorder for years without knowing they have it, and I think with the help of this book, they will be finally be able to get closer to their goal of living a more balanced life. In today's busy world, it's a relief to know we can rely on Dr. Phelan's expertise to explain these disorders in laymen's terms. Well done!
This is an absolute must if your child has ADD or ADHD. This book was given to me from someone who bought it over 10 years ago. As I was reading this book, I would say to myself that's my child. I would even laugh out loud because someone had actually put my feelings on paper. Most important I knew that I wasn't alone. I've read many, many books on ADD and ADHD but none are as well written and practical as this one. I plan to re-read it many more times as the years go on. It's an invaluable piece of literature!
