I have always loved the book CORDUROY but had never read any of the sequels. The original story was published in 1968 so it has been around for a while. I loved reading A POCKET FOR CORDUROY just as much as the original story. How convenient for both stories to be combined into one book - makes for an excellent Circle Time or Story Time lesson on friendship (or bears, or losing and finding things, or taking care of animals, etc.). The characters are great and the story line is simple, but cute. Don Freeman did the illustrations, as well as authored the books.

Corduroy is a classic book that all kids need to read and their parents too. I read this as a child and recently bought it for my friends' children. I read it to them and loved it just as much now that I am an adult. I love Freeman's imagination and life that he gives to Corduroy that is exactly what a bear would do! I know this book was written in the 60's but I really appreciate characters in the story that are different ethnicities. I think this is a great way to introduce people of various backgrounds to kids. But overall this is a great classic story for kids.

These are the type of books that are perfect for young readers. The story is easy to follow, and very entertaining. Children will want to read more about Cordorouy, and find out what he will do next.

I think the site recommends the book for ages three to seven, but really, I think it's wonderful for all ages. I remember reading (and asking my parents to read) both stories over and over and over again as a child. Looking over the newer, hardcover edition of the original and the sequel (conveniently bound together in the same book), I was able to relive that warm, comfortable, safe feeling of childhood once again. Truly, the perfect stories to share with those you love!
