I was excited to start this one because the cover looked so adorable and the synopsis sounded cute, I did like it but it didn't live up to my exceptions. Told in alternating POV's between Skye and Seth.  Skye and Seth meet one summer at a beach party and instantly fall head over heels in love. They part ways after spending just two days together and can't seem to get each other out of their heads for the next few years.  When they bump into each other things resume as if they didn't go anywhere.  The characters were a little bit flat. Skye was whiny and annoying. It was boring in some parts, maybe not boring but slow, it came to a standstill in the middle of the book. Along with the break, a three year time break, that made things a little confusing. This was the second Susane Colasanti book I have read, the first being Keep Holding On, and while they were very different stories, I could definitely tell they were from the same author.  I think All I Need is a quick, fun, sweet summer read. Perfect beach read that's for sure!  Thank Penguin and NetGalley for this e-arc in exchange for an honest review.

This book falls right in the middle of what I like and what I don't. On the one hand, it is super sweet and focuses on real love and developing lasting relationships. In the other hand, there is a lot of sex talk and high school drama. I like the way the relationship between the characters develops. They know they have something real and they take things pretty slow. They give themselves time to get to know each other before getting too serious. Both characters are likable, which is a must with a romance heavy story. Although I prefer sex free books, I appreciate the way the author focuses on true love. It is not some lusty novel that will make you blush. The sex is non-descriptive and they wait until after she is an adult. I also like how at that point, it is more of an expression of their love for each other rather than a need to fill their own desires. I feel like there is so much pressure on teens to get involved intimately with their boyfriend or girlfriend and it is refreshing to see a book that focuses on developing a good relationship before getting so serious. There is quite a bit of sex talk from Skye and her friends, but again, the author used it to explain that intimacy complicates things, rather than fixes them. The writing was simple, and you could easily read the book in one sitting. This book is sugary sweet and super fluffy. It is full of declarations of undying love. It's a cute story that would be great for an afternoon at the beach. Content: Non-descriptive sex, innuendo Cover: This cover is super cute and it reflects the book well. It's what initially drew me to the book and it almost makes me want to read it again!

I have been a fan of Colasanti since "Take Me There" and her older books first came out. However, lately I have been very disappointed in her writing. Her older books had distinctly unique characters that I very much related to, but now her characters are one dimensional and unrealistic. The events that happen in this book are predictable at best and very boring at the worst. I was very disappointed in this book and unhappy that I wasted the money. Try a Sarah Dessen book.

Susane Colasanti is my favorite author, her stories have always been the ones I looked forward to. I've been reading her books since when I was in about 7th grade to now. This book was kind of a let down.. I couldn't really connect with the characters and Susane Colasanti seemed to be.. well, lacking.. Hopefully her next book will be the Susane Colasanti I remember.

Skye has great parents, good friends, and even a summer friend near her family's summer house on the Jersey Shore. Still, Skye knows something is missing. She's still waiting to find the right guy--the one that will make her feel complete and be the icing on the proverbial cake. That's all Skye needs for her life to really be perfect. Every summer Skye and her friend Adrienne joke that the summer will be different; something exciting will finally happen. Usually that isn't the case. Then Skye sees him at the party and she knows, at last, that something big really is going to happen. Seth didn't want to join his friend at the beach party. His family doesn't rent a house on the shore--his dad owns a roller rink there. Totally not the same. But then Seth sees her and he knows he was wrong and coming to the party was the exactly right thing to do. After one magical night Skye and Seth know they're meant to be. But before they get to a happy future they'll have to deal with a present filled with missed connections, worried parents, troublesome friends, and the difficult realities of college (and long distances) in All I Need (2013) by Susane Colasanti. All I Need is Colasanti's sixth novel. Like her other books it is a standalone (though attentive readers might spot a cameo or two). All I Need is written in the first person with dual narrations by Skye and Seth. Between the two narrators, Colasanti offers a nuanced story about the starts and stops of Skye and Seth's fledgling relationship. Although the novel spans a wide space of time, this story is very grounded in the distinctive sense of possibility that summer brings. Colasanti expertly opens up both Skye and Seth's futures as together (and apart) they realize the world has a lot to offer. With a frothy blend of romance and fate Colasanti plays with the ideas of serendipity and inevitability as Seth and Skye work to find each other after their first fateful meeting. The two narratives cleverly overlap and intertwine throughout All I Need to create a delightfully romantic and thoughtful story. Possible Pairings: Graffiti Moon by Cath Crowley, What Happened to Goodbye by Sarah Dessen, Prom and Prejudice by Elizabeth Eulberg, Just One Day by Gayle Forman, Lola and the Boy Next Door by Stephanie Perkins, The Statistical Probability of True Love at First Sight by Jennifer E. Smith

This book is just far too unrealistic for my liking. I thought I'd like it because of the reviews, but I really didn't. It's too perfect as far as the story goes, not exactly in a good way, and the events are very predictable. The main conflict of the story is resolved veeery quickly, which is a huge downer for me. I feel as if Kara and Jocelyn's fighting was more interesting than the main problem at hand. No, I wouldn't recommend it if you read to be inspired for writing yourself, however I would recommend it if you're looking for some immediate romance.

All I Need was a story that I liked, not loved. It was kind of a double ended sword situation, because I loved that the romance and lives of these characters stuck to how it is in the real world, but at the same time when you read about real world romance it's not a fantasy relationship. There are bumps in the road which made the book a bit of a downer. I did love that it was in both Seth and Skye's point of view, because it made the story richer, and I love that we learned about other things going on in their lives, like friends and parents, besides the romance, because again it made it all more believable as if you were just reading someones real life story. I recommend this book for contemporary readers, and definitely to those who like a dose of reality every now and then.
