Overview

All Jacked Up by Lorelei James

One hot-blooded cowgirl and one cool-headed businessman in a stripped-down, revved-up game of sexual truth or dare.

As the lone girl in the prolific McKay family, Keely McKay doesn't need another man giving her orders. What she does need is a restoration specialist to help her open her physical therapy clinic--and that expert is none other than buttoned-down, uptight Jack Donohue--her brother's best friend and a certified pain in her Wranglers.

Jack is this close to securing a career-defining project, until he learns his bachelor status puts him out of contention. When the notoriously hot-bodied-but-hot-tempered Keely begs him for help, he proposes a crazy idea; he'll personally oversee her restoration--if she acts the part of his fiancée.

Their sizzling lust overtakes common sense and suddenly they've gone from from butting heads to knocking boots, but outside the bedroom they're as mismatched as ever. The McKays remind Jack of the humble upbringing he left behind, and country girl Keely feels she doesn't measure up to Jack's big-city expectations.

As the dust settles, Jack and Keely worry they're not fooling anyone but themselves. Can they stop pretending long enough to see that they've stumbled on to the real deal?

All Jacked Up continues my love affair with the Lorelei James's McKay family. What can I say I am a cowboy romance hero convert thanks to her Rough Rider series. This review is going to be rather short, but sweet because I LOVED absolutely everything about this story. I loved Jack. I love his drive for success despite his ill conceived intentions. He is like so many Americans who live to work and the concept of "more" is never enough. Yet despite this flaw, and even though he's a little bit Dom, he's a whole lot sweet underneath all of his tough GQ exterior. Love him! And Keely.she's who I would like to be when I grow up. Even if I am already waaaay older than she is supposed to be. She is who she is and does not make apologies for her life or how she chooses to lead it. And lead it she has. We have had glimpses of her character in most of the Rough Rider books. She's fun, and caring, and no one does more for her family than she does. She's the exact opposite to Jack. She works to live and her work is her passion. I loved that the sparks flew, despite the obvious attraction because both had fallen into a pattern of baiting bad behavior from each other. And unlike a lot of contemporary romances where the heat level is high, the evolution of their relationship is not based solely on sex. The reader isn't left wondering how they went from barely tolerating each others presence....to realizing they love each other just because of a few tussles between the sheets so to speak. You get to experience how they transform from enemies, to partners in crime, to lovers, and finally to being "in love" with each other. It's one of the things I loved most about this story. For me, this was a perfect romance read. It had everything that I love about a romance no matter the genre. There is not one thing that I wish were different..except for this: I hated for it to end. I was left basking in the glow of a reader high.a romance euphoria if you will. I hated to start another book. I knew I was going to loose that joy of just having completed reading a fantastic story. It would be inevitable that the next book couldn't possibly live up to my experiences while reading All Jacked Up. So what was my solution to this dilemma you might ask? I read a different book by Lorelei James that I had not read yet :) Sadly, I've now read her backlist and will have to patiently wait until next year for her new book, Corralled: A Blacktop Cowboys Novel. To summarize...All Jacked Up is one of my favorite reads of the year. Ratings: 5.0 stars (if I could give it more I would!) p.s. if you haven't read any of the previous Rough Riders series, I highly recommend them, but unlike some of the others I DO think you can read this one as a stand alone and not feel lost amidst all of the secondary characters that comprise the McKay and West families. This was by far my favorite in the Rough Rider series! Jack and Keely felt like real people. We actually got to see their relationship develop and while the sex is great, it doesn't seem like that is all there is between them. I've enjoyed all the other Rough Rider books but sometimes it seemed like the characters love sex not each other. Here I totally felt the real love they had for each other. Great read! Could not put it down!

Through out the years we saw Keely as the spoiled only daughter of Carson and Carolyn McKay. She was as wild and crazy as any of her brothers or cousins. Older now, she wants to start her own physical therapy business on her own without the help of her family. She buys an historic, abandoned building that needs a lot of work but it also comes with the clause that all said work has to be supervised by a restoration expert. Here is where things get interesting.. We had been teased in other books that there was something that went down between Keely and Jack Donohue. We knew Keely had dated his brother Justin and they were both friends with her brother Carter. It was during this time that impressions were formed against the other and they were not good. Keely had quite the sexual history and was unapologetic for it. Jack didnt want his brother around this kind girl and sabotaged the relationship.. And Keely being a McKay never forgot.. Now these two find themselves needing the other. She needs him to oversee her project and he needs a fiancée to advance his career and to one up the man who stole his ex girlfriend from him. These two were so single minded in what they wanted business wise they weren't thinking to straight when they agreed to pose as engaged. One they couldn't stand each other and were polar opposites in every way. Two trying to convince Jack's business associates was a lot easy that trying to convince a million McKays of the deception. But the age old adage of opposites attract was in full swing here. They might yell and scream at each other but the sexual pull was strong and they were combat-able and combustible in the bedroom. I read this book years ago and I still remember feeling so bad for Keely when she was taken out of her element into Jack's world of social events. As with all women she had insecurities about herself (which we had never seen before this book) and there are a few scenes that are hard to take when she is beaten down verbally by the horty-torty witch ex of Jack's. Jack was clueless himself on relationships and made some hurtful mistakes with Keely (for which he paid DEARLY for). I love a good opposites attract romance and with the fiery spirit of Keely McKay and the stubbornness of Jack Donohue the sparks in this one flew hotter than the Fourth of July. It was also an interesting change for the hero of the book to not be a McKay and see what all that man had to go through to be welcome into the McKay world..

I'm so glad Keely finds her HEA. I love a woman that knows what she wants and isn't ashamed of who she is! Jack is different from the other RR books because he's GQ, not cowboy but boy oh boy he does not disappoint.

I absolutely LOVE and trust everything Lorelei puts out. Her writing styles from her western/cowboy to her fighter/mma is remarkably different. However, amazing at the same time. It takes a brilliant writer to be so diverse in her styles.

We see here how "Wild Child" Keely McKay is tamed by her long time nemesis Jack Donohue. It is a funny, hot and sentimental story were Keely and Jack have to look past their bickering and see that all they feel is love for each other and that all that fighting is just a means to keep the other away. We have awesome sex, funny arguing and heartfelt scenes. I really like this story like every other MaKay. What can I say Lorelei is a girl after my own heart (not that I swing that way (not that I have a problem with that)) lol. I swear if this woman keeps writing such great stories I'll become one of those fan stalkers people read about!! :)

This series is absolutely fantastic. I've never disappointed with ANYTHING she has written! There are 16 books in all in the Rough Rider Series starting with the Long Hard Ride and ending with Cowboy Take Me Away. If you've never read anything by Lorelei James you really should. Keely West McKay is considered the wild child and only girl with several older brothers. Keely doesn't like Jack Donohue with a love/hate passion. Keely also knows that Jack Donohue is certifiable pain in Keely's behind.  Keely is stunned by several revelations regarding Jack that he owns her apartment building and restoration specialist she needs to fix up her building. That's right her building which her family knows nothing about because it's her dream. Jack Donohue knows only one thing that Keely McKay takes his breathe away every damn time he sees her and yet she drives him crazy like no one else can. Jack dreams of landing a dream restoration project but learns that his martial status leaves him out of the running but he hatches a plan to get everything he wants which include Keely. Keely reluctantly agrees to Jack's plan. Can both Keely and Jack avoid killing each other to get what they want? Will either Keely or Jack admit their attraction? Your answers await you in All Jacked Up. I've been waiting to read this book since reading Slow Ride. I got into this series backwards yet loving every minute of smokin' hot sex, smokin' hot cowboys and women they love, and beautiful Wyoming backdrop. This story illustrates how tight a family bond can be pulling no punches or denying that bond either. I think what makes Ms. James work so defining is tight knit family structure can be. Each book builds on the previous one and you always get to see your favorite characters~mine Cam McKay. But I'm sure I'll another favorite in this series soon. I look forward to re~reading Slow Ride soon.
