Kate, widowed young, finally marries again, but her husband is torn away from her by scheming men who only want the land her husband is laird of. As he is shipped to Australia for seven years, she is left to care for her younger siblings as well as the village and to try and keep a scheming 'Gentleman' from taking the birthright of her husband away when he has only just regained it from a corrupt uncle. For those who read the first two books, this story will continue to enchant you and keeps you on the edge of your seat as you eagerly anticipate what will happen next. A real page turner.
