Opening lines: Kyle rolled over on the mattress and slowly lifted his eyelids. Rumpled sheets, empty bed...

"Mrs. Tappan writes one of the best accounts of today's military fighting man/woman... The characters are so real, and the story so enthralling, that you don't want to put the book down!"
~ Fan review

Note from the author: Some years ago, a good friend of mine (who was in the same naval helicopter squadron as my husband) miraculously survived a helicopter crash. This book depicts some of the real events of that accident.

Compelled to join an operation by an admiral with a personal agenda, Lieutenant Kyle "Mikey" Hammond finds himself thrust into the harsh desert terrain of northern Pakistan. Four American engineers have been kidnapped, and Kyle is tasked to work with Samantha, a civilian authority on Pakistan, whose expertise in terrorist negotiations is the hostages' only hope. However, this is just one part of Kyle's assignment. He's also operating off a set of top-secret orders that could ruin his military career.

From the outset, Samantha's negotiations with the terrorists walk the sharp edge between life and death. But she is an expert at such shrewd tactics...tactics that soon begin to mirror her personal dealings with the enigmatic Navy lieutenant. Determined to unearth the true Kyle, Samantha engages in a cat-and-mouse game with him that ends up peeling away some of her own carefully concealed layers. Once both their masks are lowered, love blossoms between them. But when the daring hostage rescue finally gets underway, a horrifying accident nearly shatters everything they've worked to attain. Their survival will hinge on the strength of their love...and if the man she's certain can save the day will become the hero he's convinced he's not.

ALLIED OPERATIONS, I loved this book!!! I was unable to put it down when I started until it was finished. Tracy Tappan has a gift for writing a solid, well developed, realistic story line with military jargon. She does include a glossary for the explanation of the jargon. She obviously knows what she is talking about, as a military spouse, she lives in this world. Tracy has created characters that you really care about and cry for. This is the second book in the Wings of Gold series. You would not have to read the first book before Allied, but it would give you background on Kyle. I will be anxiously awaiting on the next installment to this series. I personally love military romance. l am going to be looking up other books by Tracy Tappan as she is now on my must read list. Lieutenant Kyle “Mikey” Hammond and Samantha “Max” Dougin are the couple in this story. At the end of Allied, Tracy shares with us a personal event that happened. I received an ARC for my honest review.

Once again I found it hard to put a Tracy Tappan book down! I felt I was right there in the book. I enjoyed having multiple character stories and look forward to reading their continued stories in future books. If Tracy writes it, I'll read it...and no doubt enjoy it!

Wonderfully exciting and authentic military romance! 4.5 stars “Allied Operations” by Tracy Tappan is part of the ‘Wings of Gold’ series and features Lieutenant Kyle (Mikey) Hammond, who has been assigned a mission to help with hostage release negotiations from terrorists in Pakistan. Forced to work with a civilian he reluctantly finds himself attracted to, Mikey must face both physical and emotional dangers as he tries to find a way to complete his mission successfully, but things don’t always go as expected, no matter how carefully plans are laid. One of the key elements to presenting a compelling story is the ability to create a vividly realistic story that grabs the reader and immerses him or her in the action. This author excels at providing an exciting roller coaster ride that combines danger, passion, emotionalism, and a glimpse of the crucible that hones those who serve to defend and protect. I am appreciative of the myriad of details that give only a small portion of the military experience even as I ache for the sacrifice and steep price paid by these loyal and brave men and women. The very first story in this terrific military romance series drew me in, and they have continued to enthrall me even as I am saddened by various revelations about the characters, who seem determined to prove the adage, ‘that which does not kill us makes us stronger’. Be warned, both tissues and a strong stomach will undoubtedly be required for this exciting story, as well as enough time to savor a tale that will be hard to put down. I look forward to more tales about these imperfect, yet loyal and courageous folks! A copy of this title was provided to me for review which was submitted to Night Owl Reviews

I truly loved this book I love books that prove me wrong about my feelings towards a character like this book did. Author Tracy Tappan does a phenomenal job of taking for me an unlikeable character and making him lovable in slow precise realistic detail. Military terminology used in this book is supported with definitions creating a deeper understanding of the plot. I found it an enjoyable read because I also learned Military terms I never knew about and I love learning new things. My first introduction to Lieutenant Kyle “Mikey” Hammond was in Beyond The Call Of Duty. I instantly disliked his personality and how he dealt with stress. Even so I wanted his story. I knew he was deeper than he let on. The author develops his character throughout the book offering the readers insight into why he acts as he does regarding women. At the end the reader will fall in love with him. Samantha straight off the bat was a character that I loved. She was calm and feisty with the innate ability to see through Kyle and hold him accountable for his actions. Her character continually surprised me with how she reacted to him. A strong woman who was able to overcome her fears and move actively towards getting what and who she wanted she was a character that I would want to be like. I truly loved this book and give it 4.5 stars.

They met in a foreign bar, each leaving on a dangerous mission the following morning. One is a trained soldier, the other a trained journalist whose presence is crucial to the mission. Samantha was looking for a one night stand, something wild and not like her. Kyle was a love ‘em and leave ‘em kind of guy. Their joining was less than romantic; it was hard, fast and over. Little did either of them know that the next day, they would be bound together on a mission that was nearly impossible and that lives would be depending on them in a foreign and hostile land. Was Kyle to become the babysitter and protector to a fragile woman who is untrained and untried under gunfire? There is a hostage situation and Samantha is the go to person, but first she must put her trust in a man she barely knows, one she can see has his own skeletons in his closet. Will this hardened soldier show his softer side to her and break down her own barriers? The mission is job one and coming out alive is not guaranteed…then again, if they were to survive, it would be together. Tracy Tappan manages, once again to stay at the top of her game with Allied Operations combining the grit and fear of being on foreign soil, in a covert operation against brutal militants with affairs of the heart between two walled in souls is desperate need of their other half. Follow along and sweat in the heat of the land, the heat of the blooming passion and the danger of the mission they are on. Known for her unique talent to keep her readers on their edge of their seats, Ms. Tappan gives us flawed characters with hearts of a lion and a lot of love to share! I received an ARC edition from the author in exchange for my honest review.

I was ADDICTED to this book! Just like the previous book, Beyond the Call of Duty, I couldn't put this one down. The tension between Max (aka Samantha) and Kyle built and simmered slowly, and the action and suspense elements were truly "edge-of-your-seat." When the book was heavy, it was HEAVY, but it was realistically balanced out with lighter moments. This book was personal for Tracy, and it shows. The amount of research she put in is above and beyond. She uses the jargon like a pro, and THANK GOODNESS for the built-in glossary! I loved learning new terms and phrases! In the beginning, Max and Kyle have sort of a pseudo-meeting, then they officially re-meet the next day. I knew from that moment that the sparks would fly between them! Kyle had such a funny voice, both externally in the things he said and especially internally with the things he thought. He's a hero for sure, but I enjoyed reading how Max got under his armor and discovered what made the hero/player/wise guy tick. And holy cow, when Kyle finally said out loud to Max the things he had only wished he could say out loud to Max, I totally had an out-loud AWWWW moment. And holy cow, the major conflict that happened with the helicopter towards the end had me turning the pages like a crazy person to see how it got resolved! And holy cow, I just loved absolutely everything about it and would read ANY book in this series!!! ***I received a copy of this book in exchange for an honest review***
