A young woman who is a political campaign specialist leaves her groom at the altar when she discovers all her bank account assets were about to be transferred to Saudi Arabia. Fleeing to the family cabin, she is found drenched by her former love who rejected her. He was divorced now. Her life gets more complicated when word reaches her that her brother, who is a doctor, has been kidnapped by a terrorist group in Iraq. She and her father and Ryan travel to try to find him. Brandon, her brother, has become a Mormon and is attracted to the woman doctor he has been working with. Their relationship blossoms under the terror of a hostage situation. The suspense is interrupted several times to switch from each sibling's situation, leaving you hanging. So, you may feel the need to skip some chapters and jump ahead like I did. This is a quick read with a lot of drama.

In JulieB's new offering, she sets the suspense tone quite well. I learned more about the inner workings of a political campaign than I knew before. This story takes place in Iraq, where Brandon Shepherd and Rachel Fielding, doctors in the US Army, are kidnapped and Brandon's best friend Ryan Jameson, Brandon's sister Kristen and their military father, spearhead a rescue operation. By reading this gripping novel, we learn just how much we should value our freedoms and the Iraqui's freedom. With what is going on in Iraq, it's very difficult to determine who to trust in our war on terror. I highly recommend this fast-paced novel.
