In another universe outside our own, attack and famine plague the peaceful denizens of the planet Ceron in the Keygon Galaxy. The future of the residents rests in the hands of Allynna, her brother and their life-long friend. Embarking on a dangerous, uncertain mission, they team up with two unlikely characters and charter a ship-thus, joining forces with a notorious outlaw. Subsequently making enemies with the obstinate Senate, Allynna takes matters into her own hands, planning to form an army of her own. This decision leads her into the neighboring galaxy, where unforeseen twists and turns create a deep mystery. For Ceron isn't the only planet in danger. A mysterious personage kidnaps the girl's life-long friend and leads them on a secondary mission to save her life. The only hope for peace lies in the hands of Allynna and her new army: the famous Black Riders of the Universe.

This book captivated my attention from the first time I saw the cover at Susanna Abbott's booksigning. Yes, this is the same writer who wrote Olivia of Moorhill. Such a difference in setting, for sure. The creatures she concocted bring realism to her Universe and really tempts the imagination. From a jinkob to a lilike...the possibilities are endless!! The characters are realistic, too. They express themselves in dialogue that's both humorous and modern. No stilted language at all. Her descriptions of ships, planets, creatures, characters and everything leave room for the reader to imagine, but aren't threadbare in the least. The action-packed plot keeps the pages turning, for you are burning to know what's going to happen next. Adventure and comedy aren't far removed from this book, either. You get laughs, but also wholesome and exciting adventure. Anyone who's a science fiction buff, a Star Wars fan or someone who just loves a good adventure or action-packed story will love this book! And Miss Abbott said this is Book One in her science fiction series, so there's more to come!
