I admit it. This whole thing started because of an Argentine Marxist revolutionary, a depressing London flat, a sub- titled foreign flick, and a personal existential crisis. Sounds like a combustible combination, I know. And it was. It was also the beginning of something beautiful. Here's the thing no one tells you about an existential crisis: when you're in the middle of one, happenings strange and slight can take on meanings they would never have possessed prior to the moment when you're sitting on your couch wondering why you're alive, why you were born, and if anyone would really care if you disappeared. But at that moment-with empty beer cans, crushed potato chips, and a dead cell phone scattered about your flat-the world becomes a collection

of symbols: things tiny and normal come to represent ideas large and new.

So it was when, after finishing year number five in what seemed an interminable unfurling of a lifeless, meaning- less career, I sat down in front of the television one evening. "I don't have a bad life,” I told myself again and again, like one of those horrible daily affirmations. "I should be happy, right? I have a home, a job, more money than I need, a dad and mum and brothers who care about me, even if they don't readily share such feelings. . . .” But somehow none of it felt real; it felt, I suppose, like it wasn't even really my life. I hadn't built it, hadn't fought for it, hadn't erected a real, true life for myself from the elements of passion and longing. I was lonely, yes, but not just for friends or lovers. Honestly, I was lonely for me. Sounds silly, I suppose, but all these years I'd lived with me, and never felt like I was really there. And now, here I was, in front of the television on another dull and foggy London night, considering the fact that if I disappeared, the world would be the same, I'd have left no mark upon the planet, no lasting legacy in someone's life, and that I would not be missed, even by me. To chase the thought from my mind, I picked up the remote and clicked on the television.

And I had what every filmmaker hopes his audience will have when he shoots and edits his work: an epiphany.

I'm not an intellectual. I don't speak French, I don't know how I'm not an intellectual. I don't speak French, I don't know how to pronounce Sartre, I don't speak the language of -isms, and until I saw The Motorcycle Diaries I would have identified Che Guevara as the pleasant chap who stood next to his donkey on the tins of

Description: After watching Motorcycle Diaries, Leon Logothetis decided to change his life drastically by leaving his family in England and traveling through the United States. The catch? He wanted to get from point A (New York) to point B (California) on a budget of five dollars per day, while relying on the kindness of strangers for food, lodging, and transportation. No phone, no car, no extra cash - just a backpack and his belief in the goodness of humanity... This is his story.Review: I did not know what to expect when I first picked up Amazing Adventures of a Nobody, my first thought being, "Is this dude medicated?" I am all for believing in the goodness of mankind, but relying on (and trusting) complete strangers? No way. Sounds like Leon Logothetis is just asking for trouble; but upon reading the first couple of chapters, his "adventures" begin to intrigue and surprise. Leon's stories are inspiring and well-written, hitching readers along for the ride. I enjoyed reading about his interactions - from the mundane to the insane - particularly his experiences with the gang members and the fraternity, (no spoilers!). I never expected this book to restore some of my faith in humanity, but it most certainly has. Will I be crossing the country with $5 in my pocket, relying on the kindness of strangers anytime soon? No, but I am glad that Leon Logothetis has proven it a possibility. Overall, the Amazing Adventures of a Nobody is a thoroughly enjoyable journey that will fascinate readers. I wonder if Leon plans on continuing these adventures, especially since I recently found out there was a TV show based on them... Recommended for readers of all genres!Rating: On the Run (4/5)*** I received this book from the author in exchange for an honest and unbiased review.

Loved this book! It's awesome by simply reaching out to people in the most basic way Leon restores our faith in modern people, really modern American people specifically. Thus will open your heart. Thank yourself later for reading this book now.

This book is anything but typical. What really endeared me to it was the transformation that Leon experienced on his journey. There were so many hidden gems of wisdom in the book. It is a vivid reminder to each of us that we are all on a journey of some sort. Amazing Adventures of a Nobody is a surprisingly real look at American hospitality at its best! I wish I could meet someone like Bob!!!

Quite the combination of pure, gut-yanking honesty about one's inner life; humor and the luscious, rich color of self-discovery. I laughed out loud at Leon's honesty! Amazing Adventures of a Nobody is both refreshing and entertaining. I want to travel with him! In fact I would just like to travel, but travelling with him would be so much more fun I am sure!!!

I bought Amazing Adventures of a Nobody to get in on the adventure, but finished it wanting to start one of my own! I felt like I was along for the ride. It was sad, funny, very spiritual, searching, and deeply honest. I really didn¹t expect to get so much out of this book, but boy did I get something out of it! I loved the crazy characters he met along the way. You have to read this book just to meet OCinnamon! -Maria

You would think that everything around us is in chaos and total pandemonium however reading this book will make you realize that not all the things are bad like this book. It thrives to give his audience a feel on his challenges and adventures whilst on journey, not only the physical but more importantly the emotional state of mind. It would make you think that everything happens for a reason and you have a role to play in this world. Truly captivating!

He is brave and courageous and I would recommend this book to anyone who has the inclination of wanting something deeper, a yearning that tells them there is more beyond the mundane world we often live in our daily lives. It worked for Leon and it can definitely work for you. I needed a reminder of my growing apathy and Amazing Adventures of a Nobody is exactly what the doctor ordered. It was a welcome shakeup! LIZ D

This book is really heartwarming. It's not meant to be a travel book describing the various states & cities he visits; it's about his inner journey. I identified with his experience as a flawed human being (aren't we all?) and shared his success as he worked toward his goal. It will make you see others differently, and if you're paying attention, it will make you treat others differently too. A really wonderful read. LINA

I really enjoyed the book. If you can, take a break from all the gloom and doom in the media and read Amazing Adventures of a Nobody. Leon gives us a much-needed reminder that there's still plenty of good in the world, and room to spare for a little adventure! I recommend giving it a try, if you do connect with him you'll probably find the story, and its lessons, very appealing and maybe even life-changing. It certainly made me think about my life.

I definitely liked this one. Leon's a guy I could get find myself getting a beer with. I think everyone should read it. It makes you think about who you are and what you are doing in your life. I thank him for reminding me that it doesn't take exceptional people to do exceptional things, "regular people" can make a big difference in the world too. Nice work.

Pay it forward! This is a wonderful and inspirational book - I definitely felt like I was going through his travels and the journey by his side. I related to a lot of the things that he had to deal with on his journey and that he had experienced in his life back in London. Amazing Adventures of a Nobody is a genuine reminder of how important it is to do good things for others. It's a plain and simple message in an entertaining package! Thumbs up.

Simply put, this book was inspiring! Leon's story is an incredible account of the perseverance of the human spirit against adversity. I'm not in a position to begin a life altering journey on Leon's scale, but Amazing Adventures of a Nobody reminded me that I can carve my own path. I'm passing it on for sure. I know a few people who could benefit from taking a leap of faith the way Leon did on his journey across America.

Amazing Adventures of a Nobody made me think, it puts what's important in perspective, in a way I could relate with. I finished it in a matter of hours it seemed, and went back over it to find new insights. I thought it grasped a much deeper side of me. Thank you Mr. Logothetis! I hope we meet along the road.

Through his book, Amazing Adventures of a Nobody, Leon has opened my eyes to the reality of everyday life. I mean, you see it in movies, the news, sometimes even on the streets, but to read about it and visualize it in your mind is like being there and living it. I couldn't leave it all behind, but I genuinely thank Leon for taking his journey on our behalf, and letting us share, and learn from, his discoveries. It was excellent!

A quick, intimate read that reminded me of recapping a life-changing journey I had with an old friend. I'm not sure if it was the stories he related, the simple and engaging way he communicates, or just his sunny optimism that makes even the silliest stories charming. It definitely leaves you looking forward to the next adventure! I actually bought one for my husband! He is reading it as I write this.
