Must read for, well, anyone really. Richardson's debut is a declaration of intent for what I hope is more to come. Breaking hearts, crushing spirits, dancing on the graves of civility and manners, and spitting in the eye of respect and dignity all while laughing and giving you something more heartfelt and true than you've ever been taught to believe. The story chronicles a young man named Jack as he's put into situations that question his very reality and force him to become his own person in spite of who he's been expected to be, while realizing just what is happening behind the veil of corporate America. For anyone who's felt unimportant, left behind by society, or abandoned by what former generations so arrogantly fought to gave us, American Bastards is an anthem for apathetic youth written in Richardson's own unique voice inspired by the rebellious hearts of Rock Artists and Gods we all know and love. Straight out of modern counter-culture, Bastards gives hope and motivation for those who have lost inspiration and want more from life than a paycheck and mortgage. Those of us forgotten about by mainstream society and who are growing in tattooed & pierced numbers in the pubs and streets. An exciting and exhilarating story for anyone who's ever found themselves on Highway Zero, the road to nowhere.

American Bastards... While it is fiction it is based on a true story. Through each of the rich, bold characters, the author takes you on a road trip. He grabs you by the hand and together you explores the consequences of what it means to be part of a generation that has no inheritance. The first of their kind... The bastard children of the American "dream" a society and culture that seems to have forgotten not only what it's fighting for, but that it even needs to fight. Follow him as he travels to find out why art and beauty no longer shape the world. But all is not lost there is hope... Skillfully crafted, and full of thought provoking wit. An entertaining and eye-opening work of ART.

Start with a group of dead rock stars striving to save the world...throw in the great city of New York overrun with the restless dead...for good measure, mix in fortune tellers, gypsy-punk circus performers, and a love story with a prostitute...and top it all off with a rebellious new generation hell bent on challenging not just authority - but the nature of their true existence... Add all those elements together, and you get American Bastards. The debut offering from author Trevor Richardson, American Bastards doubles as an imaginative (to say the least) work of speculative fiction and an extended - and rather acerbic - piece of social commentary. Through the eyes of narrator Jack Bluff, Richardson explores the conceptual ramifications of a society and culture that seems to have forgotten not only what it's fighting for, but that it even needs to continue fighting in the first place. Skillfully crafted, and steeped in wry - yet dead-on - wit, American Bastards presents the reader with a revealing, thought-provoking analysis of American pop culture and history. A rewarding, entertaining, and surprisingly eye-opening literary treat. Karynda Lewis Apex Reviews
