Description: This is the annual update of a complete listing of pharmaceuticals cross-indexed by brand and generic name. Each entry lists its use, excipients in the products, and cross-referenced name.
Purpose: This reference is intended to identify, explain, and correlate the many pharmaceutical products available to medical, pharmaceutical, and allied health professionals. This type of list in this format is hard to find elsewhere.
Audience: The audience includes medical, pharmaceutical, and allied health professionals.
Features: The book contains an extensive monograph section of drug products cross-referenced by generics. It also has a very useful medical terminology glossary, a do-not-crush drug list, a list of discontinued medications, and a manufacturer and distributor list with website addresses and phone numbers, as well as tables of calculations, weights and measures, international system of units, normal lab values, and a sound alike/look alike medication list. It is a very basic list of medications and their use; it does not give clinical information about the medications, prescribing information, or other dispensing information.
Assessment: This is a useful reference for looking up the names of products and finding the ingredients and excipients. It is updated annually, which is important as the pharmaceutical marketplace is constantly changing.
