American Heroes of World War II Normandy June 6, 1944 is an extraordinary work by Phil Nordyke. The way he organizes the eyewitness accounts and pictures of so many of the brave men who made this invasion, creates a narrative that is easy to follow, and contains the great and horrific details of just what our military went through on that day. My Dad went in on Omaha beach but never spoke much about his experience. This book recreates a vivid image of the heroic efforts of so many of all of the heroes that parachuted in and those that stormed the beaches. The later part of the book details the Medal of Honor, Distinguished Service Cross, and Navy Cross citations with pictures of those who risked and gave so much. Phil's love for the "Greatest Generation" who saved the world from Hitler's Nazi Germany, has written a number of books about World War II, and he has a penchant for detail that enables the reader to understand what exactly happened over there. I highly recommend this book for those who want to know. Richard L. McBain Author, Reluctant Warrior - Vietnam
