Although not inherently corrupt, the American Idol television program has magnified a culture preoccupied with fleeting fame and image overload. Feeding off that frenzy, American Idols takes a necessary look at the false gods in modern society. The golden calf of Bible times may be gone, but in its place today are enslavements to consumerism, celebrity, sexual freedom, easy religion, and more. This timely book helps readers realize and overcome their own idolatries.

American Idols: The Worship of the American Dream based on 0 ratings. 1 reviews.
A good work indicating how many of the attitudes and actions among Americans-- excessive consumerism, celebrity worship, concern about superficialities, focus on money, individualism, naturalism, and other such tendencies can manifest themselves as forms of idolatry. I could have done without the mock prayers, but it does get one to think about how easy it is to be too American and leave God's intentions for mankind behind.
