The American Woman’s Bible attracted my attention because of the eye catching cover (I love red, white, and blue). The book shows how women have influenced history and our lives with essays, quotes, and historical information (there is a historical section for each major event like World War II, Civil War). We see how women have helped our nation during different periods in history. There our quotes from Louisa May Alcott, Martha Washington, Eleanor Roosevelt, Helen Keller, and many more. There are many stories in the book about women (under different virtues like faith, integrity, wisdom) and how they handled situations with God’s help and guidance. Before each book of the Bible there is an introduction/summary that tells us the author of that particular book, the theme, and insights. I have enjoyed perusing this Bible (reading the various stories, essays, quotes, etc.). The essays and historical information are well-written, engaging, and easy to read. I also like that the Bible is written in the NKJV (New Kings James Version) which is easy to read and understand. The first time I tried to read the Bible, I was using an old family Bible (and it was not easy to understand). I then discovered different versions, study guides, etc. The NKJV is my favorite because it is written so the everyday person can understand and comprehend. This book is also a nice hard cover edition (sturdy), but the pages easily stay open. I give the American Woman’s Bible 5 out of 5 stars. If you are looking for a new Bible and are a history buff, you should check out American Woman’s Bible. It does come in hard cover and ebook versions. I received a complimentary copy of the book from the publisher in exchange for an honest evaluation.

ADD TO CART American Woman’s Bible Women, Godly Virtues, and the Making of America By: DR. Richard G. Lee, General Editor Forward by: Penny Nance I do love the cover of this beautiful Bible, more so I love the fact that if you tear the paper cover gets ruined you are in luck because the Bible it’s self has the same pictures on the front what a nice addition!!! It’s really a neat cover I love it!! I was excited when I got home and opened the box that held this beautiful Bible. I couldn’t wait to dig into it, the first paged I opened was Rose Fitzgerald Kennedy Biography what an amazing woman she was. Rose lived along life and the life she led showed the hand God hold us and God’s faith never fails. Rosa would take faith over anything even money she guard it most. President J. F. Kennedy was called the Camelot because under his leadership our nation knew peace and contentment. This Bible has so many different women that helped shape and give God grounding in our country and they were Blacks, Whites and Native American all ages some very wealthy ladies, some poor, some slaves, and some made to live on reservations (even though this was their land first). In this Bible you will see these women and the struggles they went through to change a country they loved, you’ll read in faithfulness, Hope, Truth and a lot more from quotes from other women or poems. I learned the names of a lot of these women that shaped this country and how they helped shape USA but also I found out their back ground and the struggles of a lot of them but also some of the wealthy women that gave of their money, their time and their smart way to do things. I recommend this Bible highly. I so enjoyed the addition of the women that shaped American. That they had a strong will but above all they had God on their side, you can’t go wrong if God is there with you. I received this Bible free from book look for an honest review. I was not required to write a positive review just an honest one. The opinions I have expressed is entirely my own and no one else’s. 5 Stars ISBN 978-0-7180-7631-3

I received a copy of this Bible from the publisher for review purposes. The American Woman’s Bible takes that idea and gives us portraits of women who are meant so inspire and encourage us in our walk with the Lord. They, like us, aren’t perfect, but the Lord still used them to achieve His purposes. This Bible begins with a helpful 10 step list to guide us on our journey to achieve our goals of becoming a godly woman. It also reminds us that our journey will be unique as we are all different. Whether you start at the very beginning with Genesis, start at the end with Revelation, or start somewhere in between, the additional readings included in the text are meant to help you in your journey. They are not a substitute for the scripture itself nor are the individuals meant to be placed up on pedestals because they are used as examples. Instead, the portraits and stories of women, examples of virtues, and quotes give additional real life examples of the concepts being covered in scripture. In addition to the stories, examples, and quotes throughout the Bible, there are several full-color sections that give glimpses into the lives of women during specific time periods in history. It often helps gain a better understanding of what it has been like for women throughout our nation’s history. I really like how this Bible is laid out and the information that is contained within. I have enjoyed reading about these examples of godly women who, while not perfect, have been able to further the Lord’s plans by listening to His guidance for their lives. It’s a good reminder that each of us has a purpose in this world, and those purposes look just a little different. The world needs our different approaches and talents. The Lord is able to use each of us – faults and all.

What a fantastic time of year to get this Bible into your hands. In addition to the perfect words of the greatest book in the world, the Holy Bible, you get to read stories of the famous, and the not so famous women, who helped forge this country from its birth to its modern times, using God’s Holy Word as their life compass. From the obscure women of the colonies to the heroic women who survived the bombings of 9/11, each story is filled with how God helped them through the good times and the bad. Finding out which scriptures helped inspire these women to grow in Him gave me a sense of sisterhood. Kudos to Dr. Lee and Thomas Nelson for this powerful reminder that, as women, God is always with us and will always use us for His purposes. I always hesitate when I see Bibles with "added" information but this this totally works. It shares the women's stories along with how they used God's Word. In no way does it detract from the scriptures. I love the words of Alexis de Tocqueville, whose works inspired Dr. Lee in his journey to discover America’s greatest godly women. Upon leaving America he wrote in his book, Democracy in America, “if anyone asks me what I think the chief cause of the extraordinary prosperity and growing power of this nation, I should answer that it is due to the superiority of their women.” Dr. Lee has included "10 steps to a woman's journey to godliness". My favorite is step #8 which says "A godly woman rests in the knowledge that God is in control and wants nothing but the very best for her life." Each step has a corresponding verse of scripture to help you on your journey. This Bible is a perfect gift for all the women in your life, especially teens and college age women who probably don't know how much the women in our nation's history changed the landscape of our country in powerful godly ways.

This Bible caught my attention because of the eye-catching cover and because it celebrates influential women in American history. I was excited to have the opportunity to read and review American Women’s Bible. The huge issue I had with this book is that it arrived damaged. The dust cover was bent and misshapen. The Presentation Page was folded and bent. There was no ribbon marker within the book as was listed in the book’s description. But worst of all, several Bible pages had been carelessly folded over, hopelessly creased and unreadable. Although I received this book free from the publisher in exchange for my honest review I would have gladly returned this damaged book for an exchange, but the publisher was unwilling. It’s difficult to give an accurate book review when a book arrives damaged. I found this a real disappointment. From the undamaged pages, I could see they appear to be somewhat thicker than pages in most other Bibles. There are also several attractive glossy pages scattered throughout, which provide additional insight into historical events. There’s a great deal of information included in here. This is much more than a Bible; it’s a tribute to American women. It would have been a wonderful keepsake had it not been damaged. I received a complimentary copy of this book in exchange for an honest review.

NKJV, American Woman's Bible is awesome! I absolutely love the cover of this Bible and have always been fascinated by influential American women throughout history. I also really like the articles that show how biblical virtues have shaped our nation. The inspirational quotes by or about great women, famous and not well known are a great addition to this Bible. With Independence Day approaching the release of this Bible is perfect. See how the brave women shaped our country by living by faith. This is a perfect Bible for those that love history! Disclosure: I received product(s) for free, in exchange for my honest review. I only recommend products I've used personally, and believe will be good fit for consumers.

As we approach Independence Day, the release day of The NKJV American Woman’s Bible is here. The timing couldn’t be better. We remember the reason America was formed as colonies was for freedom of religion, and this book recognizes the great American women of faith (not necessarily women born in America). The NKJV American Woman’s Bible begins with “A Woman’s Journey To Godliness,” and continues with examples from our nation’s history of women who shows what it means to embrace faith in hard and difficult times. General Editor, Dr. Richard G. Lee has done his research. He says, “American history is no stranger to the fact that God uses humble, unassuming ‘everyday’ people to do extraordinary things.” I loved the behind-the-scenes look at our country. Sidebars are filled with quotes and qualities of virtuous women. Biographies add detail to the lives of many influential people, some of which I never heard of. Glossy inserts are packed with the stories of those who sacrificed and served their Lord and country. The biographies include immigrants, pioneers, presidents’ wives, missionaries, writers, peasants, celebrities, slaves, singers and songwriters. Here’s a sampling of the quotes that grabbed my attention: “You can be too big for God to use, but you cannot be too small.” – Nelle Reagan “To forgive is to set a prisoner free and discover the prisoner was you.” – Corrie ten Boom “Faith isn’t the ability to believe long and far into the misty future. It’s simply taking God at His Word and taking the next step.” – Joni Eareckson Tada”The greatness of a community is most accurately measured by the compassionate actions of its members.” – Coretta Scott King Do you love stories about the women of faith? In the Bible, Hebrews 12:1 says “we are surrounded by a great cloud of witnesses.” They’re the ones who endured hardship and overcame difficulties with their faith in God. The NKJV American Woman’s Bible is an inspiring look at the ways women gave their devotion to God’s truths and the practice of these truths.

Alexis de Tocqueville wrote at the conclusion of Democracy in America, his landmark work of the nineteenth century: "And now that I come near the end of this book in which I have recorded so many considerable achievements of the Americans, if anyone asks me what I think the chief cause of the extraordinary prosperity and growing power of this nation, I should answer that it is due to the superiority of their women." America is the beneficiary of the great feats, the deep faith, and the powerful influences of women throughout her past up to the present. In the words of Penny Nance, President of Concerned Women for America, the American Women's Bible "points the way for the women of our time...By taking on the mantle of godly virtues, women can bring about the changes needs to keep this nation strong." The American Women's Bible is to see how women throughout the history of this great nation have lived out those biblical values, such as courage, faith, honor, mercy, sacrifice, forgiveness, obedience, resourcefulness and more. The purpose of this Bible is not just to tell these women's stories. More than that, its purpose is to show how living by those values taught to us in the Bible can make an individual great, a community great, and a nation great. Its emphasis is not only the great accomplishments by American women of the past; it also points the way for the women of our time. This has never been more needed than now. "Who can find a virtuous woman? For her price is far above rubies." ~ Proverbs 31:10 I received the NKJV American Woman's Bible compliments of Thomas Nelson Publishers for my honest review. I did not receive any monetary compensation aside from a free copy of this Bible in exchange for my honest and unbiased review. I absolutely LOVE this Bible. First on all is it easy to use, but the encouragement you can find through the stories of the woman from American history you will find throughout the Bible who lived those biblical values that women strive to make a part of their own lives. There is a section about how a woman's journey to godliness can be achieved through their study of walking through the Bible and great reference points are provided so you can find the ones in particular you are looking for. There are quotes, articles, biographies and more added to make this truly a journey through the eyes of what makes up a godly woman without taking anything away from the Bible. Ones you will find are Louisa May Alcott, Dolley Madison, Flannery O'Connor, Rosa Parks, Dale Evans Rogers, Harriet Beecher Stowe, Harriet Tubman, Martha Washington, Laura Ingalls Wilder and more. For me, this is such a great Study Bible because it is so easy to use and love the layout of the New King James Version which is what most pastors use. For me, an easy 5 out of 5 stars!
