I don't have the cheapskate gene. I am one of those people who actually get overcharged and don't notice until I'm home and it's not worth it to go back, while others are getting 90% off bargains left and right! I just don't have the talent, so I am always looking for ideas to shave money from my budget. This family sets a standard that would be hard for the average person to meet on all points, but there are good ideas to incorporate into your own life. It's useful and entertaining to read.

I saw this family on an episode on Dr. Phil. They really inspired me to change my life. I bought book and enjoy reading it. Some of the ideas were new to me and other ideas I been doing for years. I recommend this book! Thanks Dr. PHIL!!!

A lot of the stuff is common sense, but they never talk about how they paid for their kids' college education. And, I'm sorry, but some of their ideas are just downright lame (entertain your teens with "Old Yeller" videos, take a "home vacation" and finish the yard work, store your stuff in boxes with an index card file of where it is--GET A LIFE!). They also are big time moochers--borrowing other people's tools, newspapers (for the coupons), videos, books, everything. Then, they go hit up the doctor's office for free meds. How tacky can you get?!?! Glad I'm thrifty and checked this book of the library instead of buying it! I'm following their advice, aren't I?

I really enjoyed the book, but even knowing that this is what another famil did. I have to be honest and say, my family and I won't be going that extreme.
