This was a very good book. It was a bit gorier then I expected. The editing was well done. There was no sex or cursing, the preaching and scripture quoting were almost nonexistant. It was 710 pages long. 700 pages of story. One of the heroines, Kit was not very likable. Grant just kept on taking her abuse and meaness. There were several unresolved sub plots, leaving me with questions. I wonder if there is going to be a sequal. Ages 14 and up could read this book, but its length might scare off the younger readers. This was an execellent book - although I seldom read a book twice, this is one I could read over again.

Could not but this book down. Another free book that introduced me to a new author. I will be checking out the rest of her books.

Wasnt really expecting this book to be very good. Was very impressed. It all finally came together. Loved the way it ended

I borrowed this from my daughter. It was very good but a bit too intense and gory for me at times. There were some issues that were unanswered after finishing this book such as how she got so far away from home, and the identity of the one murdered person was.

Unabashedly Christian but not in an offensive way to non-Christians. A first-rate thriller with hints, turns, and twists all along the way. Probably one of the best stories I've ever read. If you generally shy away from female writers, put away your prejudices and go for this one.

A better editor should have gone thru the manuscript. No sex or cursing. The dialogue was predictable. But overall a good story.

to go through life not knowing who your birth parents are or why you were put aside from there family is not how we are to live. But after loosing the family who loves you to find out you have siblings that one did not want you and tried to harm you, and you still love them is amazing.

Great storyline. Kept me on the edge of my seat the entire time. The 700+ pages just flew by! Can't wait to read many more by this author!

I feel like this could have been more than one book. I had to stop reading it and then come back to it because it went up and down. If more than one book the characters could have been made more likeable. Would have been great if Johnny had more part in the story and the elders. Overall good slow read.

I almost didn't finish the book but pressed on because of the characters of Oona & Harvey. They were the most realistic and developed & acted more like real people, bumbling along like true amateurs caught up in an awful mystery, not knowing which authorities were actually trustworthy. They were both trying to figure out their lives and deal with a father who had Alzheimers, although Harvey never getting over his high school girlfriend to date other women was odd, and not recognizing her voice all those years was odd. Grant seemed too good to be true, sticking by Kit her whole life when she couldn't stand him and was continuously rude to him. Lots of loose ends & unanswered questions.

It kept me in my toes, wanting to know what was going to happen next. I'm very happy with having purchased this book.

Well written but the non stop preaching makes it a loser. I would not have bought it if tgis has been indicated in the sample or other reviews. It makes me think that the reviews are mostly fake, and the sample puposely did not include any reference to god.

I enjoyed this book. It had interesting plot twists and a somewhat happy ending.

I enjoyed this book. It had a quick pace to it with good twists and turns. A few questions were left unanswered and I never did find out what the " A " frame house had to do with anything. Also one anoying thing was the continued use of the phrase "I hate you" by the main character. Hate is such a strong word and it just makes me cringe. All and all I would recommend this book.
