How can a book about a married man cheating make you smile? Read An Affair to Remember and you will find out.
Monica Townsend liked being a book editor because it allowed her to keep to herself; even if she did get lonely sometimes. She never thought she would be kidnapped! Not only was it terrifying but shocking, too. She didn't have any enemies so why would someone kidnap her? At gunpoint no less!
Lucky for her, gun shots where reported so the police came to the scene. Chase Travers was one of the responding officers. He sure wasn't expecting what he found at the abandoned warehouse. Three dead men and Monica bound to a chair with a severe head wound. Chase was going to find out who did this to her and why.
One night Chase checked on Monica at the hospital and decided to stay the night. The reason he gave was to protect her but there were officers on guard outside her door. It was a good thing Chase stayed because someone tried to get to Monica again. Chase snuck Monica out of there and as they ran for their lives, they began to get strong feelings for each other.
This is a wonderful story that I didn't expect to like because of the cheating but it turned out that I really did like it! It was so well-written that I felt the pain this couple went through. It was very emotional and had me in tears but smiling at times, too. Even though Chase was married, I was rooting for them to stay together.
The twists in this story had me anxious to know what was going to happen next but not wanting it to end at the same time. I must say that the ending was a complete surprise that I never expected.
I am so glad I received this book in exchange for an honest review and highly recommend it to romantic suspense readers.

This is the first book in the Freedom in Love series that I have been given the opportunity to read. After reading this first book, I am so glad to know that I will be following these characters in more books. I really admired Chase as a policeman and as a man. There was an underlying problem that allowed this affair to not feel dirty and tainted as many affair books do. There is an innocence and honesty to their relationship. I was drawn into the drama and danger that was present in this story. The suspense portion of the story was very suspenseful and kept me interested and invested in the story.

What an amazing story! I still have goosebumps! (actual, literal goosebumps!) I read “An Affair to Remember” in one sitting, and I loved how easy this was to read! I was never once bored (impossible with all the crazy drama happening every second!) and the author’s writing style was very engaging and compelling. There were no mistakes or editing errors that I saw, which is always nice. The only thing I thought was weird at first was that it seemed like Monica and Chase fell in love way too quick…but in retrospect it worked with the pace and tone of the story. I really liked this book and recommend it. I’d definitely look for other works from this author as I really like her style

When I first started this book, I wasn’t prepared to love it as much as I did! But I really enjoyed it. The characters that Ms. Budden created in not just Monica and Chase, but in all the supporting cast enriched the story and made me feel like I was a part of what was going on. And while at first I was disappointed with Monica’s decision at the end, I understood why it had to happen, and that in fact it, was the very heart of this love story. And I must say that the author’s note at the end reached into my soul…it was so touching. I highly recommend this book to anyone who enjoys a great love story that isn’t as predictable as you might think.
