"An Agent Tells All" is the insightful story of Tony Martinez, a man who didn't plan on getting the career he ended up with. After losing a coin toss with an actor friend, Tony begin his career as a certified Hollywood agent. Throughout his story, he tells about all the behind the scenes work that goes into finding and publicizing today's hottest actors. He provides all the dirt that comes with being an agent and also finding one that could help a novice actor get their careers started. Some major messages that I took away from his book are from the chapter called “Rules of the Game”. Tony hits on some of the most important things to know before jumping into the business of acting. The main themes of the rules are to have fun and learn, be happy with your choices, to know that the job isn’t always easy, and to have common sense. I really enjoyed his writing style. It was very informative, but it was also very personal. He goes into detail about his journey in the field, and gives out tips and tricks for aspiring actors and agents. The only off-putting thing was how brutally honest he is, but sometimes it’s good to hear what you’re not expecting. He was blunt and honest in his writing, which is good to have in a book about the competitive world of Hollywood. I believe that anyone thinking about working anywhere near Hollywood should read this book. Tony does a wonderful job of writing about all the details and business of acting that usually go overlooked by the public. I would give this book 4 out of 5 stars. It was a great read, full of humor and the honest truth about the business in Hollywood .
