I picked up this paperback at a Charity shop to read while visiting England, mostly because the characters are British and the setting primarily in London, where I spent part of the trip. An easy read, nonetheless, the novel explores, over the course of a year, the ebb and flow of relationships between partners and concomitantly, between friends. Whether it is the arrival of a newborn, a move to a different part of the country, or a reconnection with lost love, the author has us consider the "everydayness" of balancing work, relationships, and expectations we have for others as well as ourselves. Seems like a natural story turned movie starring Hugh Grant and Kate Winslet.
