Overview

An 'Awful' Beautiful Day is an illustrated children's book inspired by the author's children, and their bout with chicken pox, boredom, unhappiness and subsequent mood reversal brought about by some strange and wonderful imaginings! The book's illustrations were created by Kris Kriofske (brother, and partner in illustrated literature!). The book consists of approximately 1400 words and 14 or so illustrations. The story, both fun and funny, travels from initial grumbling through strange and amusing sightings to an eventual solution to sadness and tedium.
What Makes This Book Different:
With a great many children - that is, in my family's experience, and caregiving, over the years - we've not encountered a book or a story that combines the tale of a childhood affliction with strange and fun, somewhat "magical sightings" such as this story features. Additionally, the story includes original cartoon illustrations that complement the text... well, imaginatively!
