Nalini Singh is the New York Times bestselling author of the Psy-Changeling novels and Guild Hunter series. Maggie Shayne is the New York Times bestselling author of the Brown and De Luca Novels and the Wings in the Night Novels. When she's not writing, she spends her time exploring the mysteries of the cosmos, reading Tarot, collecting crystals, and studying the customs and rituals of long-forgotten civilizations.

USA Today bestselling author Erin McCarthy has written over sixty novels in romance and YA fiction. A RITA finalist and the winner of the Reluctant Young Reader award from ALA, she is a member of RWA, Horror Writers of America, and Ohioana.

**Courtesy of CK2S Kwips & Kritiques**Berkley brings four gifted authors together in An Enchanted Season for a magical book filled with some delightful tales of romance and inspiration. ~Melting Frosty by Maggie Shayne~ Matt and Holly both suffered tragic loss during the Christmas holidays when they were children, but each reacted completely differently to the pain. While Holly looks for the joy and love in all things, Matt expects only emptiness and sorrow. Brought together by a series of miracles, stranded together by a snowstorm, this pair will have an everlasting effect on each other¿If ever a story were written that made one believe in miracles ¿ especially the miracle of love ¿ it would be Maggie Shayne¿s Melting Frosty. She had my eyes watering by page three of her story and the waterworks never really stopped after that. I don¿t truly know which touched me more ¿ Matt¿s despair or Holly¿s hope. Both were palpable in their intensity and made for an unforgettable and heart-warming read. ~Charlotte's Web by Erin McCarthy~ Friends. That¿s what Will and Charlotte have always been, much to her dismay. Oh, it isn¿t that she doesn¿t want his friendship, it¿s just that she has longed for much more than that for years. But Will doesn¿t seem to see her as anything more than a buddy. It¿s time for Charlotte to tap into the magic of the holiday season and her family¿s own witchy heritage to try and catch Will¿s attention in a big, romantic way¿I am always a sucker for romances with friends who have loved each other from afar for too long. In Charlotte¿s Web, Erin McCarthy does the theme right with the love affair between Will and Charlotte. Pair Charlotte¿s barely hidden desire with long-stifled magical abilities that have a delicious way of granting her fondest wishes where Will is concerned and you have a sexy, fun tale that you will be more than happy to snuggle up with on a cold winter¿s night¿ ~Beat of Temptation by Nalini Singh~ It is years before most shape shifters find their mate ¿ years during which they enjoy independence and sexual freedom with multiple partners before settling down. Nate was always drawn to Tamsyn, although he was much older than her. But when she turned fifteen, something clicked and they recognized each other as mates.Still, Nate was determined to allow her space and freedom in which to mature and find herself before he claimed her as his. Admirable enough, but that very space and freedom turned torturous for the frustrated Tammy, until four years later when she is so ready to explode she¿ll do anything to break Nate¿s hated self-control¿With the first book in the Psy/Changeling series, Nalini Singh garnered another fan with this reviewer. With each subsequent story in this riveting series, she proves she is no one-hit wonder, delivering intense stories filled with passion, intrigue, and best of all, love.Beat of Temptation follows very admirably in that vein. While it is technically the fourth story in the series, the fact that it is a prequel makes it easy to read out of series order, granting newcomers the chance to sample this talented author¿s work without first needing to read the other books in the series. Of course, I fully expect anyone who reads Beast of Temptation will rush right out to purchase all of the other books in this series. The first in this saga to mate two Changelings together rather than a Changeling with a Psy, this tale was no less fascinating for it. In fact, watching Tammy and Nate¿s denied lust for each other escalate into uncontrollable passion made for some extremely powerful scenes that defy the reader to put the book down until the story¿s end.Throughout it all, we still enjoy glimpses of the Psy world as they plot against the Changeling packs for their own financial gain.Fans of the Psy/Changeling series will adore this glimpse into Nate and Tammy¿s past, and new fans will find it an excellent entry point to this mesmerizing world. ~Gifts of the

An Enchanted Season is a short fiction anthology by authors Maggie Shayne, Erin McCarthy, Nalini Singh, and Jean Johnson. The four stories featured all revolve around Christmas and are firmly set in the (paranormal) romance genre.I¿ll go through them story by story.Melting Frosty by Maggie ShayneMatt hates Christmas because his father died in the holiday season, when Matt was a little boy. Holly loves Christmas, remembering her whole family, who died in a car accident in the holiday season, when Holly was a little girl. This Christmas, they meet. It¿s a coincidence. Or is it?Maggie Shayne doesn¿t really break new territory here. Reading the first couple of pages, you know how this is going to end. This gives it the quality of a comfort blanket. You don¿t really need it anymore, but it¿s nice to have every once in a while anyway. Her story is more magical realism than paranormal, but I¿ll let this one slide. :)Charlotte¿s Web by Erin McCarthyCharlotte is in love with her best friend, Will. Will loves her, too. But both are afraid to move on it, not knowing what the other feels. How good that it turns out that Charlotte¿s sisters Bree and Abby really are witches and not only say they are! Together, they uncover Charlotte¿s powers and love.Again, the story won¿t surprise the hell out of you. But the characters are good and it seems part of a bigger thing (but apparently, isn¿t. At least I could find no hint to a series on Erin McCarthy¿s homepage). I really liked the sisters. And Will. Though I didn¿t completely fall in love with Erin McCarthy¿s writing, I can see myself reading more by her.Beat of Temptation by Nalini SinghAh, yes¿ we¿re back in the world of Psy and Changelings. This time we get Tamsyn¿s and Nate¿s story. It¿s a prequel to the other books in the series.Tammy and Nate both know that they are meant to mate since Tammy¿s fifteenth birthday. Now, she¿s nineteen and Nate ¿ afraid that he¿ll make Tammy feel locked in and rid her of her youth ¿ still keeps his distance. Which drives Tammy absolutely insane. It was interesting to get the backstory of the pack . I mean, you know from the books what has happened, but here Nalini Singh explores the impact this had on the pack. And it was so sweet to see all the guys I know from the other books as teenagers. And Nate¿s and Tammy¿s story ¿ the flowers! ¿ struck every romantic chord in my heart. *sigh*Perfect to cuddle up with, but unfortunately, much too short.Gifts of the Magi by Jean JohnsonThree strangers, three local boys and the struggling owner of a bed-and-breakfast and his fiancée are stuck in the b-n-b. While a snowstorm rages outside, conflicts get solved inside. Probably.I have to be honest, I didn¿t finish this story. Apparently the three strangers are magi or angels or something and their holier-than-thou talking went terribly on my nerves.

Enjoy the Magic of the Season! The holidays are a time of magic and good cheer. So what better time for four tales of romance influenced by paranormal means? I have yet to read any of the four authors outside of anthologies so this was certainly a good sampler for me. As a lover of holiday tales this appealed to me when it first hit shelves but I waited and found a used copy on Ebay which I don't think the previous owner realized was not only in mint condition but signed by Shayne. I wanted to read it then (spring) but held off so it could be enjoyed over Christmas. Melting Frosty by Maggie Shayne (Wings of the Night series) is a very traditional romance short story. A bah-humbug meets a free-spirit and the two get snowed in at the house she grew up in and he wants to buy. Despite how much they dislike one another's outward attitudes they are very attracted to one another. With a little Christmas magic and a little love even the iciest heart can be melted. I think this one was a little too silly for my tastes and somewhat implausible in a way I couldn't quite put my finger on. But I liked the idea a lot and it made for a nice read after I decorated. 4/5 stars Charlotte's Web by Erin McCarthy (Vegas Vampires series, 7 Deadly Sins series) is a lusty romp through the tangled web of best-friends suffering from attraction. Will wants Charlotte but doesn't know how to tell Charlotte how he feels. Charlotte's sister insists that she too is a witch and they're going to prove it by casting a lust spell on Will. When Charlotte drops by Will's to help him decorate for the holidays how can they tell whether it's the spell or their own natural attraction drawing them together? This one was a cute, fun play on the 'love spell gone wrong' tale. The HEA was a little too abrupt and sugary but even I (the cynic) couldn't help but find it sweet. 4/5 stars Beat of Temptation by Nalini Singh (PsyChangeling series) is set in her PsyChangling world. Tamsyn is destined to be Nate's mate, if only he would let her. At nineteen years old she might be a bit young for her role as senior healer for the DarkRiver leopard pack but she knows what she wants. Nate on the other hand, fears that if he takes her, he will be ruining her life. When throwing herself at him brings no results Tammy has to resort to other tactics but will pushing him away bring him closer or destroy the bond between them? The least Christmasy of the four stories this one gave me a little look at a series I have sitting waiting to be read. It didn't get me in the holiday spirit though which was a little dissapointing. Set at another time in another anthology I would have enjoyed it much more. 3/5 stars Gifts of the Magi by Jean Johnson (Sons of Destiny series) is an unusual mix of romantic love and holiday spirit. What happens when a Buddhist, a Muslim and a Reform Jew visit a tiny B&B in rural Iowa during a blizzard? Rachel and Steve, the engaged owners of the inn, are about to find out. Through the rough days ahead, snowed in with strangers and a trio of young trouble-makers, the two are strengthened by the depths of their love for one another. This was my favorite of the four. It was both romantic and amusing as Rachel and Steve dealt with the situation they found themselves in. It also warmed my heart that the three young men were also changed by their stay. 5/5 stars

An Enchanted Season - Maggie Shayne, Nalini Singh, Erin McCarthy and Jean Johnson (8/10)Paranormal romance anthology; Psy/Changeling short story by Singh. As is usual for me, I only read the story in this anthology that interested me, which was Singh's short story. In fact, I won a copy of the book from Singh's blog, which was totally cool. The story is lovely, about the meeting and courtship of a well-established couple in the main books of the series. It is very nicely told and lets a female reader mutter "men are so stupid" with a satsifying sense of superiority as Nate takes his time figuring out what it is he should be doing. I don't know how a male reader would take it, but I thoroughly enjoyed it. (And for anyone wondering why I never bother with other stories in anthologies, I actually struggle to read short stories. I have no idea why, but I do. So I prefer ones that fill in gaps in a world I already know to starting something cold, although I'll do it if it's an author I trust. But mostly, short stories just aren't for me.)

Total Pages: 280...4 stories by 4 different authors. worth reading (but wait until Christmas to read this)... All 4 stories are Christmas love/miracle stories. One has witches in it, another one has shifters & psychically-endowed humans (Psy), and one has an ordinary human who just believes. My favorite one was/is "Beat of Temptation" by Nalini Singh because it is a Psy novella. I love that series!

i have only read the story by nalini singh so far and it was good. im sure the other short stories are good too. beat of temptation is about tamsyn (tammy) and nate.Young Tamsyn has always held a special place in her heart for her powerful fellow pack-member Nate. But as a dominant male leopard in the pack, the more experienced Nate doesn't want to trap Tamsyn into the fierce demands of the mating bond-a bond driven by the animal within-when she's hardly had the chance to grow into a woman. But Tamsyn knows what she wants for Christmas, and she's going to get it. by nalini singh. love the psy-changling series!! definately recommended. i would read slave to sensation first but its not necessary. each book is written alone so you dont have to read them in order but each book ( read in order) adds something that you might otherwise miss.
