Once more, historian Don Nardo has delivered a superior piece of histrical writing. The author of dozens of books for young people about the ancient world, he has a style that is simultaneously concise, highly informational, and engaging. And his work is always well documented and up to date. This volume is no exception. It is a wonderful compendium of general facts about ancient Greece, its city-states and kingdoms, its leaders, weapons and battles, social and political customs, mythology and religious beliefs, and much more, all couched in language accessible for as young as junior-high school readers and comprehensive enough for non-scholarly adults. I wish my school could afford to buy a copy of it for every one of my students. As it is, I am using it myself as a supplementary reference. Bravo.
