What a joy to get to read another Tobi Tobias Mystery! Just when you think author Laura Bradford can’t possibly outdo herself, she does! AND DEATH GOES TO… is the best book in this series so far. All outside distraction was a mere whisper in the background as I lost myself in this wonderful tale. The more I read of these characters, the harder it is to leave them and their world once the story is over. Protagonist Tobi is brilliant. I could spend time talking with her all day. Grandpa Stu is my guy. I simply adore him. I got to see a different side of him in this book, and just wanted to give him a hug. Ms. Bradford always manages to bring so many levels to her stories. Laugh out loud moments, the tenderness of romance, and of course, the drama of murder. And speaking of murder…Wow! From the unique way the victim was killed (haven’t seen it in a cozy before), through the following investigation, AND DEAD GOES TOO… was nonstop twists and turns, with new suspects popping up all over! I honestly had to remind myself to keep breathing. If you’re a fan of the Tobi Tobias mysteries, or a fan of Laura Bradford’s, you can’t miss, AND DEAD GOES TOO… And, if you haven’t read anything by this author, it’s time you do!

I actually give this 4 1/2 stars. Tobi and friends are back when they all go to an awards ceremony for Tobi and Sam. All is going well until the final award is not what was expected when the winner plummets to her death. When Tobi starts looking into things some surprising things come up which takes this story on some twists. To make matters worse Grandpa Stu doesn't seem to be himself and has everyone worried. The bonus is that we begin to see a different side of Ms. Rapple and I loved to see a little of the softness coming out. I love the characters in this series, Tobi is fun and quirky, Sam I just love, such a strong teenager with his head on his shoulders it's refreshing to read a teen that isn't sullen and sulky. The mystery was excellent and I kept changing my mind and was surprised who it turned out to be. I eagerly await the next in this series and can't wait to revisit these characters.

Award Winning Fall You’ve heard of deadly competition, of course, but that’s usually just a figure of speech. However, things really do turn deadly at an awards show in And Death Goes To…, the third Tobi Tobias Mystery. For those who haven’t met Tobi yet, she runs her own ad agency in St. Louis, and this year, she’s thrilled to be nominated for the Golden Storyboard at the St. Louis Advertising Awards. This is the biggest and best award she could be nominated for. She doesn’t think she will actually win – yet. But some year, she hopes to snag the award for herself. However, the evening ends horribly when a platform under one of the winners collapses, and the winner dies. Despite vowing to stay out of it, Tobi is shaken when she realizes it could have been her, so she starts poking around. What really happened that night? Author Laura Bradford is wonderful at creating characters we love, and this series is no exception. I couldn’t wait to revisit Tobi and her friends and family, and everyone is present and accounted for and at their charming best. Naturally, we get to know the suspects over the course of the book as well, and they are strong enough to keep us confused until the end. It’s a good thing I love the series regulars as much as I do because there is a strong storyline involving a couple of them that hijacks the mystery at times. I was fully invested in this part of the book, don’t misunderstand, but I honestly felt that Tobi was a bit slow to figure things out. That really frustrated me as things went on. And this isn’t to take away from the mystery. There were some wonderful twists to the story, and the suspenseful climax came as a surprise to me. It’s no mystery to me why I keep coming back to Laura Bradford’s books because her characters are so much fun to spend time around. If you haven’t tried any of her stories yet, And Death Goes To… is a great place to change that. NOTE: I received an ARC of this book.

Dollycas’s Thoughts Tobi is excited to have been nominated for the Golden Storyboard Award this year but the St. Louis Advertising Awards turn out to be not as advertised. They were not supposed to include a murder! Tobi is now thankful she didn’t win because the winner dies when she steps up to receive her award. The room is full of suspects, but was the woman who plunged to her death the actual target? Tobi and her Grandpa Stu are trying to find that out but their relationship strained due to something he overheard Tobi tell her boyfriend Andy Zander. Hopefully, the case can be solved and their relationship saved before anyone else is awarded a trip to the great beyond. The characters really drew me into the story this time. Grandpa Stu has come to visit but he is spending most of his time with the neighbor that drives Tobi and everyone else in the neighborhood a little crazy. Apparently, Stu sees a totally different side of Martha Rapple. He even brings her to the advertising awards as his date. He later hears Tobi venting to Andy about their relationship and Stu completely shuts down around Tobi and her friends. I could so relate with Tobi, when my mother started seeing a man after my dad passed away, it drove me crazy. I probably said the same things Tobi said and worse. I really enjoyed the fact that 16-year-old Sam was nominated for an award. He has a keen photographic eye and it was so nice to see him recognized for it. We also met others in the advertising field as they were all on the list of suspects. Learning the history of the prestigious awards was very interesting too. The description the author provided for the actual death was heartbreaking. The woman fell to her death in front of a room full of people. That horrible tragedy would be so hard to witness. I truly felt so bad for everyone in that room. Ms. Bradford really twisted up things with this plot. I thought each of the suspects was the killer at one time or another. They all seemed to have motive and the opportunity to sabotage the platform. As the clues started to snap into place for the actual killer I still thought it was a ruse. To say I was surprised in an understatement. Humor can be found at each stop to Mary Fran’s pet shop. That parrot always cracks me up. Laura Bradford is one of my favorite authors. She can combine drama, life experiences, romance and humor in a delightful way. I loved spending time with these characters. I hope to have a return visit soon.

I loved And Death Goes To... at least as much as the first two books of the series. Laura Bradford has a knack for grabbing and holding my attention with an outstanding plot but she does it just as much with characters that she makes me care about. The fact that the death in the novel touches Tobi so much makes the book poignant, but the many moments of humor make it possible for me to relax and enjoy the story. Her weakness in dealing with her grandfather's affection for her neighbor make her feel even more real. She is not blind, she is hiding from herself; something that many people do in real life. Laura Bradford writes mysteries that touch the heart and this one is a perfect example of her magic. I received an ARC of this book via NetGalley. It is always a thrill to get to spend time with my "friends" ahead of the standard release date! I hope you love the book as much as I did.

And Death Goes Too… is the third book in the Tobi Tobias Mystery series. Everything is going great for Tobi and her advertising agency. She’s been getting new clients, has been getting the bills paid and even has gotten a car. And the cherry on her sundae is that she has been nominated for Best Overall Ad Campaign of the St. Louis Advertising Awards. She’s just excited to have been nominated. Her 16-year-old photographer, Sam, is also up for the Best Photograph in a Print Ad and when his name is announced as the winner, their table is ecstatic. Then when Tobi’s is next and fingers are crossed at her table, but it was not to be as Deidre Ryan name is announced as the winner. She accepts her Gold Suitcase and proceeds to a stairway that leads to a platform where the winner is to stand while the winning ad is shown on a screen next to the winner. But as she is making her way up the platform and stairs collapse, killing Deidre. Quite naturally, everyone at Tobi’s table first thought is that could have been Tobi, but Tobi’s first thought is that the wrong winner had been announced, as the ad that started to play was for Lexa Smyth. Tobi asks Sam for the pictures that he took at the dinner so she can confirm what she thought she saw. Once she has a chance to review the pictures, she finds that she was right. She begins to wonder if the production room started to play the wrong clip. But taking a closer look at Sam’s pictures she notices that the envelope was different than those for the previous awards. Now that Tobi realizes that this was, in fact, a murder she sets to find why and hopefully the murderer. Once again Tobi will rely on her office manager, JoAnna, Sam, Mary Fran, owner of a pet shop and Sam’s mom, and of course Grandpa Stu to help her sort through the clues. In addition, Tobi has another problem to solve. Grandpa Stu has been spending a lot of time visiting Ms. Rapple, Tobi’s nosy neighbor, and he hears Tobi tell her boyfriend, Andy, that she wishes it had never gotten so involved with her. Grandpa Stu was hurt by her comment and has turned from the happy-go-lucky gent to an old curmudgeon. Another wonderful story from Laura Bradford and a book you won’t want to put down. I was taken completely by surprise when the killer was revealed. I definitely will be watching for the next book in this delightful series.
