From her years as the presidential press secretary to her debates with colleagues on Fox News' The Five, Dana Perino reveals the lessons she's learned that have guided her through life, kept her level-headed, and led to her success, even in the face of adversity.

Thoughtful, inspiring, and often surprising, AND THE GOOD NEWS IS . . . traces Dana Perino's unlikely journey through politics and television. It's a remarkable American story-made up of equal parts determination and clear-eyed optimism.

From facing professional challenges and confronting personal fears to stepping up to a podium for a President, Dana has come to expect the unexpected and has an uncanny ability to find the good news in any tough situation. AND THE GOOD NEWS IS . . . takes us from her Western childhood in Wyoming and Colorado to a chance meeting on an airplane that changes her life entirely. Then, with refreshing honesty and humor, she recounts her frustration with a string of unsatisfying jobs and living circumstances until a key career tip leads her back to Washington, D.C. to work for the Bush Administration.

Dana also shares here her best work and life lessons-tips that will help you to get your point across convincingly while allowing your own grace and personality to shine through. As someone who still believes in working together to solve the problems our nation faces, Dana offers clear, practical advice on how to restore civility to our personal and public conversations. I did not know what to expect; I appreciated so much Dana Perino's description of her beginnings...her ups and downs and experiences. They gave me a new perspective and helpful 'nudges' in dealing with life's surprises. She's a 'real' person, someone to have as a friend. Thank you so much DP.

This is a very positive essay about life challenges faced in today's world, and how on the people we meet along our life journey can and do make a difference in our daily lives. A great behind the scene look at someone we see on TV from time to time. It reminds us again that we all have challenges, but it is how we deal with them makes our character. This would be a great gift for a new graduate.

Former White House Press Secretary, Dana Perino, describes in this vivid account her childhood in Evanston, Wyoming and her rise to the White House. Perino depicted stories of growing up on the family ranch as rugged and adventurous. Her grandfather, whom she idolized, possessed a true grit type of caliber that taught her life’s greatest lessons. The book is comprised of colorful pictures, displaying her life as a child and her time at the White House. Perino served under the Bush Administration and portrayed President Bush as a second father that she viewed as a mentor who taught her moral lessons about turning the other cheek and letting go of trivialities. She highly esteems and admires the 43rd President as a person and his attitude toward daily decisions in office. Anyone who knows Dana Perino knows she adores her Vizsla, Jasper. But before Jasper was Henry, their first and truly loved dog. After leaving the White House, she wasn’t sure where to go, but fate brought her to Fox News as a contributor and now she is part of The Five television talk show where Jasper makes regular appearances and receives great ratings. Perino’s instagram is adorably filled with Jasper’s adventures including fish watching, playing with his toys, and cuddling with Perino. Great book. Ms Perino has a real winner with this book. Her style is personable, informal, and an easy read. It is part autobiography, and part advice book. Her biographical stories give a brief, but not comprehensive story of her life. Her advice is drawn directly from her experiences in the political area and in dealing with people she has come in contact with. All generally sound advice. Regardless of your politics, I think you will find this a book to enjoy and learn from.
