I bought the #1 Angel in Marble and #2 For all the Right Reasons because I recalled enjoying some of Elaine Coffman's early books. I am glad I bought both books at the same time or I probably would have missed out on enjoying the second book in the series. I was disappointed with the first book because I found it tedious and disconnected at times. Giving credit to Elaine as a gifted writer, I really question if some editors or reviewers had a negative hand in the first book. It was almost as if someone said, we have to weave this or that into the storyline. We need more (non-relevant) detail here or there. I thought the book started off well with the family background. Eventually I found myself scanning over paragraphs to get on with the characters and find the real story line. Regardless of my less than stellar review of this particular book. I will probably read new additions to the series looking for the next hit to follow #2, For All the Right Reasons.

This is suposedly the first of seven in the MacKinnan Series. The reader will spend more time searchng for the the rest of the series than in reading this book. I did enjoy the writing. I experienced many of the desired emotions expected (anger, laughter, suspense, romance...). It leaves one ready to follow up with the rest of the family. So where do we go from here? A hint at the end should be in order.
