About the Author

Zack Love graduated from Harvard College, where he studied mostly literature, psychology, philosophy, and film. After college, he moved to New York City and took a corporate consulting job that had absolutely nothing to do with his studies. The attacks of September 11, 2001 inspired him to write a novelette titled The Doorman, and heightened his interest in the Middle East. A decade later, that interest extended to the Syrian Civil War, which provided the backdrop for his latest work. In late 2013, Zack began releasing his unpublished works of fiction and became a full-time author. He has published comedy, psychological and philosophical fiction, and romance. Zack enjoys confining himself to one genre about as much as he likes trying to sum up his existence in one paragraph.

I was so excited to receive an ARC of Anissa’s Redemption the sequel to The Syrian Virgin. It’s an absolutely brilliant series by a first class author and is by far the best book/series I have read this year (and I have read many!). The story continues with Anissa, Julien and Michael. Anissa is having to deal with her college education and upcoming examinations as well as dealing with the worry of her family still trapped in Syria by the ongoing atrocities being carried out by ISIS on the religious minorities. Michael is still trying to raise as much money as he can to help the Syrian people flee the persecutions being bestowed upon them. Julien is still fighting the demons from his past. He still cannot bring himself to tell his therapist and knows the only person he will ever open up to is Anissa but he has to be able to trust her first. There are a lot of twists and turns that I just didn’t see coming which made it all that more exciting. There were many rollercoasters along the way but goodness me when Julien opened up to Anissa and told her everything, that was the mother of all rollercoasters, never in a million years did I see that coming! I have learned so much from this series regarding the conflicts with ISIS and the Middle East and although this is a fictional book we know that the war is very real and this series makes it very personal because the reader is able to understand more of what these poor innocent people are having to live through. Don’t be put off because it’s not all about the Middle East, Anissa is in New York so we also have the turmoil and angst of her relationships with both Julien and Michael. I didn’t care too much for Michael in The Syrian Virgin but I have come to understand him more in this book and even like him but I have to say my heart was always with Julien. Anissa’s Redemption and The Syrian Virgin are MUST reads, I highly recommend them to anyone and everyone because they cover a mixture of current affairs, love, sex, twists and turns and a Happy Ever After! Thank you so much Zack for this fabulous series, they are definitely two books I will never forget.

First off, The Syrian Virgin had a profound impact on me and was incredibly touching. Well book 2 was no different. Actually, I think I had stronger feelings in this one. Perhaps because I knew the characters and felt a stronger connection to them. In any case, Mr. Love had me going on a roller coaster ride of emotions. And not just going from one extreme to another but feeling incredibly intense emotions. I felt pain, sadness, joy, hope and anger... so much anger! Lol! Now why is that last part funny? Probably because I was angry at every single character at least once in the story... excerpt Julien. It was hard to stay angry at him ;) Now in the last book, Anissa is still very torn about which of the two men in her life she will choose. Michael or Julien. She does however agree to go on another date with Julien. And it is here that the reader gets to experience and learn more about him. He is very drawn to Anissa. *She moved her long dark hair behind her ear, exposing her neck - another innocent gesture that aroused me even more.* Julien is captivated by her and feels incredibly close to her. Something that hasn't happened to him before with another woman. Anissa and Julien make for the most adorable and sweet couple! They are so playful and fun together: *"Until then... This!" I spun her around twice and she released a loud giggle of surprised glee. Then I carried her over to the bed. I wanted to show her that an older man could be just as spontaneous, spirited, and physically strong as someone younger. It would be a distinct pleasure to teach her the benefits of being with a more experienced gentleman.* Aww ;) And let me tell you. This quote then leads to a very intimate and hot scene! It was sweet and honest. Absolutely loved it! Of course Anissa still hasn't told Julien the truth about her past and she wonders how she will do it. The road isn't always smooth sailing but there are some wonderful and beautiful moments and naughtiness too ;) But Anissa still has trouble trusting and discovers some painful truths. This is when I got annoyed at Anissa and Maya! Especially Maya! *"If loyalty among friends and fidelity among lovers is naive, then yes, I am proudly naive. I'm just glad I finally found out who shares my values, and who doesn't."* You tell her Anissa!  She turns to Michael and tell hims that it might be over with Julien... No!!! And if that isn't hard enough, Anissa gets news of her family! Mamma mia! It is intense! But it seems that Anissa and Julien reunite! Yay! And finally Julien decides to trust Anissa with the truth of his past, something that no one, not even his therapist, knows about. Mr. Love certainly pulled a fast one on me! I was not expecting that. At. All! I was crying. Balling my eyes out! I had to stop reading just to calm my emotions! Of course, I returned quickly because I needed to know what would happen next. Poor Anissa! How will she cope with all the information that she learns? The writing is phenomenal. There are so many fantastic quotes in the story that touch your heart, make you think or have you giggling. Mr. Love has an incredible talent of capturing a moment and ensuring that the reader experiences that emotion. His characters are incredible. Anissa is such a strong and determined woman. Despite all the heartache, pain and trials she has faced, she has a wonderful positive attitude towards life. The story is rich with inter-textual references and I have many more texts to read because of Mr. Love. I certainly went through the ringer with this book. Each emotion was ten times stronger and I moved between them quickly. Lucky Mr. Love didn't need to pay my therapy bills ;) lol. It is a credit to his writing that I felt so strongly about the story and the characters. He has a unique way of taking on a current and sensitive issue and crafting a special story that touches your soul. Truly, a remarkable series and a memorable story.  So now I leave you with my favourite line: "In a dark world, love is all that illuiminates the path forward." May your world be bright readers!

This was a breathtaking sequel to book one, with many unexpected twists and turns in the plot. The ongoing threat to Christians and other religious minorities posed by violent Islamists like ISIS is skillfully woven into the story, as with the first book, but the sequel brings readers deeper into the relationships and psychology of the main characters. Issues of trust and truth loom large in this book, as the biggest secrets and mysteries established in book one are unlocked. Highly recommended!

After reading the first book in the series, THE SYRIAN VIRGIN, I eagerly awaited the sequel that would wind up the compelling story of Anissa and her two loves, Michael the radical and Julien the billionaire professor. I was not disappointed. Taking up right where THE SYRIAN VIRGIN leaves off, ANISSA’S REDEMPTION gives Anissa and Julien closure as they navigate the turmoil that is their private and public lives. We discover the secrets that have been kept so well that have caused so much damage in their lives. As before, Anissa is torn between two different and charismatic men from two different worlds. She’s forced to choose between them to find her happiness. The story is written in diary form as was THE SYRIAN VIRGIN, from the viewpoints of Anissa and Julien. The diaries, we discover, are both facilitators and sanctuaries for them as they work through their tragic pasts. The details are vivid and compelling, telling the story as none other can. Supporting characters are well written and do not overpower the story but add to its richness. We discover details that we didn’t know about everyone as the story twists in new ways. The ending will surprise anyone; it’s so unexpected.  While ANISSA’S REDEMPTION does have a brief synopsis of THE SYRIAN VIRGIN at the beginning, I would highly recommend reading the first book to fully experience this marvelous tale.

The exciting conclusion to Zack Love's The Syrian Virgin, picks up exactly where The Syrian Virgin ends! After nagging poor Zack and sending him messages WHYYYYYYYYY and just pure frustration regarding the mentally and emotionally head case read this story is......*slumps back in my bed and sighs* Two men, decisions.....hard decisions having to be made! Julien Playboy Billionaire unreachable and all alphaish.....or dodgy sounding Michael ready to die for you, being the hero of the story? (Myself and a girlfriend discussed at lengths The Syrian Virgin and whose team we were for.....TEAM JULIEN!)! *coughs* In all seriousness, its not just about Anissa's decision to choose but BIGGEST emphasis of the story is the three main characters and their struggles with not only helping whats left of Anissa's family flee Syria but Christian oppression in Syria as well. It covers tough subjects psychologically and traumatic and I guess love triangle that is both complex and highly frustrating emotionally every page turn! I was getting so frustrated with the emotional roller coaster I was yelling at my kindle! LOVE LOVE this series! Its brilliantly written, highly charged and defintely once you'll read it non-stop! HIGHLY RECOMMEND!!!!!

This is a stunning sequel and an amazing read. Zack Love has done an amazing job presenting Anissa's story. There is a short overview from The Syrian Virgin but if you haven't read it, I highly recommend it before reading this one, you will not be disappointed, it enriches this story. The story was an eye opener to me about things happening in Syria beyond what I already knew. Zack has written a love story full of twists and turns and plenty of decisions for all that keep you on the edge of your seat and the pages turning. Well written. Great job!!

A hearty 5 stars for Anissa's Redemption. This book is the conclusion to the duet that began with The Syrian Virgin. It is written in a diary-style in which each chapter is an entry. Zack Love never fails to delight the reader with his intelligent writing and his thoughtful characters. Anissa, a Columbia University freshman and Syrian refugee, is very mature for her age in many ways. She has 2 love interests--Michael, who's a grad student, and Julien, who is a late 30's professor and a billionaire. Which will she choose in this complicated love triangle--the Latin American billionaire or the Syrian American activist? I don't want to give anything away, but this story took many twists and turns that I never expected! In the end you won't be disappointed. :)

Zack Love's "Anissa's Redemption" can be read as a standalone novel or as the sequel to "The Syrian Virgin." It's an innovative love story that's different from anything on the regular romance shelves. The characters are beautiful and flawed. They struggle to survive their brokenness. I've read a lot by this author, and I think this is his finest work in the romance field so far. Lots of plot twists and turns, but without jumping the shark and I really just love how it all works out in the end.

Just when I thought that Zack Love had written his most impressive novel to date when he wrote "The Syrian Virgin", he pleasantly surprises me with “Anissa’s Redemption!” I had such a book hangover afterward that it took awhile for me to come out of my literary fog. Many times when a book I really love ends with a cliffhanger, I find myself hanging onto those last few words and images in hopes that the sequel will be written soon after so that I won’t forget all of its excitement and the feelings the writer has evoked. I worry, too, that with all the anticipation and expectation leading up to the sequel, in the end, it will fall short and leave me disappointed with the series.  This was DEFINITELY not the case with Zack Love’s sequel to “The Syrian Virgin” called “Anissa’s Redemption.” In fact, it was so much better than I ever imagined it would be and it did NOT disappoint!  In “Anissa’s Redemption”, I loved how (seemingly) effortless it was for Zack to pick up where he ended in “The Syrian Virgin” and how from the very beginning, the plot and all his characters continued to evolve and develop throughout. Zack’s intelligent writing and extensive research also continued to paint an accurate and compelling portrayal of the religious struggles caused by Syrian Civil War. But what I loved most about “Anissa’s Redemption was his brilliant ability to peel away more and more of Anissa, Michael and Julien’s "layers" to reveal their true selves and their darkest secrets before the readers’ eyes and not only make them appear more human, but more endearing as well. In writing "Anissa’s Redemption", Zack created an exciting and quite an emotional roller coaster ride and with every twist and turn of events, he takes his readers through many surprising developments and defining moments!  This book was THAT awesome and definitely a must read!

Anissa's Redemption was just....WOW!!! It picks up right where book one, The Syrian Virgin, leaves off. It is full of twist and turns I never saw coming and kept me guessing right up to the end. I fell even more in love with the characters and absolutely love how this book ends. Love once again does a fabulous job with his writing style and message in his book. It was a beautiful read that I will be re-reading soon! I highly recommend this book!!

How do I put into words how much a story affected me that it left me speechless.  I got this as a ARC. Needless to say I couldn't put it down. Some wise person compared this as a roller coaster ride and I really have to agree. It had me holding on at moments and raising my hands feeling the wind in others. Mr. Love has taken present day news of the Middle East and educated readers with terrifying actions and mix in a love story. He keeps you interested with historical events while keeping in tune with the lives of his characters.  To me this is not only about suffering but it is also about love and trust. How far would anyone go to lay it all on the line knowing it could all be taken away? Could we trust someone with the knowledge that could destroy your life? And could you live with yourself knowing something so terrifying that you question who that person really was? Well this is what these characters faced. And Mr. Love wrote with such feeling that you lived each moment along the way. In the first book I didn't like the character Michael but at the end of AR I really learned to like and respect him..... Thank you very much Mr. Love.... At the beginning I told you this book left me speechless and here I have run my mouth. But I had to share how this book touched me. It is the best so far. This series will remain with me. And i highly recommend it to you.
