Anna Daniels travels between two worlds. In Sharwoode, she is an ordinary school teacher who lives a simple life. One day, while out on a walk, she steps through an invisible portal into a magical world called Nodd. The people of Nodd need a leader, someone with a strong will to combat the force of an evil sorceress named Haera Vexx. Anna becomes that leader, and she takes on the responsibilities of caring for the whole population. All is well, until one day, a messenger delivers word that a terrible crime has been committed in Sharwoode. Anna must go back to her old land to try to right the wrongs there. But in her absence, the evil sorceress makes her move. Can Anna balance the magic of Nodd with the grit of Sharwoode and somehow try to put both of her worlds back together?

The murder brings Anna into contact with some friends whom she has missed and longed for while she has been away in Nodd. One friend in particular catches Anna's interest. However, during a crime scene investigation is probably not the best time to bring up old attractions. Can Anna keep her growing feelings in check while the family grieves and searches for a killer?

As she tries to thwart Haera Vexx's advances in Nodd, Anna digs into the land's past and makes an important discovery. While studying the former monarchs and their mistakes, she begins to wonder if she is really the right ruler for the magic and history that Nodd holds. But if Anna isn't in charge, who will rule Nodd instead?

Follow Anna on a journey of crime, mystery, magic, and maybe even a little bit of romance as she tries to decide which one of her worlds is really the best place for her after all that has happened in both.
