Who are Pink Floyd and where has their music come from? How and why has this innovative British band, which has produced twenty-two albums with over two hundred tracks, sold more than 160 million records, and played to an estimated 25 million fans, remained faceless while their music, riddled with secret messages and wild imagery, reached mythic proportions?
Another Brick in the Wall tackles one of rock’s greatest enigmas: finding the muse behind Pink Floyd’s music. Each track on every album is examined, revealing for the first time the creative context behind the music and the lyrics that made icons out of LSD, pigs, power stations, and brick walls, and unearthing the crazy, tragic stories behind some of the most popular and original songs of all time.
Rock writer Cliff Jones takes the reader on a journey into the strange and sublime world of this incredibly enduring band’s thirty-year career, from the underground psychedelic scene in London and their debut album The Piper at the Gates of Dawn in 1967, through the traumatic onset of Syd Barrett’s schizophrenia and the pioneering years of the classic concept albums Dark Side of the Moon and Wish You Were Here, to the progressive rock years of cult favorite The Wall and the 1985 bitter break with Roger Waters, and finally ending their latest incarnation as globe-trotting stadium band and the recently released album Division Bell.
The lavishly illustrated Another Brick in the Wall the most comprehensive book ever published on the music and lyrics of Pink Floyd includes over 200 photos, many of which have never been printed before, a complete discography, a chronology of the major events of the band’s career, and a list of sources, references, and Internet sites.

When I first heard about this book, I didn't think it would have the meaning behind EVERY Pink Floyd Song, but I was wrong. It does have a meaning to EVERY one of their songs! I do not read that much at all. To tell you the truth, I didn't sit down and read a whole book for a few years, until I purchased this book. I just couldn't put it down. The meaning behind these songs honestly blew my mind. I still can't get over the meanings behind the Dark Side Of The Moon songs. Every Pink Floyd fan should have 5 copies of this book!!!
