C.J. and Kyrone attend college together and have a habit of antagonizing each other.  C.J. likes Tanner who is a teammate of Kyrone's on the football team.  Kyrone is the captain of the team and has girls falling all over him.  He has a rule of only dating them once and not looking at them again.  C.J. finds herself becoming drawn to Kyrone after she realizes that Tanner and her friend Katrina declare their love for one another.  Throughout most of this book C.J. was so self-centered that she missed all that was happening in her friend's lives.  She even didn't know that he friend was getting married, nor who she was marrying.  Kyrone and C.J. both stubbornly let years go by without trying to see if a real relationship will work. I should have felt sympathy for C.J. but instead found myself thinking she was a self-centered b**ch most of the book.  I had a hard time with the fact that whole years pass without these two seeing each other or even keeping in contact with each other but still professing their love.  Parts of their history were glossed over and that left me with some unanswered questions.  When they finally get together we are given a brief glimpse at the HEA.  It was one drama after another and left me depressed instead of happy reading it.  I am all for some angst but the constant angst in this book was just too much for me personally.

CJ has wanted Tanner since the day she met him. Problem is Tanner is dating her friend, so CJ is stuck in the “friend zone”. Kyrone is Tanner’s best friend. Both smokin’ hot college football players, Kyrone is quite the opposite of Tanner. He speaks his mind—albeit a dirty mind—and he has his sights set on CJ. Kyrone is a player, and never sleeps with a girl more than once. Kyrone shamelessly flirts with CJ, and she repeatedly brushes him off. He makes her smile, laugh, and likes her just the way she is. CJ doesn’t know what it is about him, but something draws her to him. Tanner sees that CJ may be interested in Kyrone, and although he’s dating someone, Tanner finds himself wresting with his own feelings for CJ. No longer fighting her attraction to Kyrone, CJ starts spending more time with him. Shortly after graduation, CJ leaves Texas for a job in New York and they separate for a while. Though she misses him terribly, CJ tries to move on from Kyrone and date other guys. Kyrone does the same, but CJ is always in his thoughts. A family tragedy brings them back together, and maybe Kyrone and CJ can finally be together, this time for good. However, fate has a few plans that question their ability to stay together. This is a beautifully written story that touches all your emotions. CJ is awesome, and Kyrone is…well, he’s Kyrone. I laughed, got choked up, yelled, and cheered throughout this book. I absolutely loved this story. I received this ARC for an honest review, and I give it 5 stars.

*** Gifted in exchange for my honest review, as part of the release tour *** This book has a different feel to it from Ms Smith's other series, Krinos is dark and delishiously escapism, This book has a more reality based feel to it, similar to the Dilemma series, which I love, but the characters have a much younger feel to them. I like that its broken into parts, and the alternate POVs give you a greater understanding of both CJ and Tyrone. It is a fast paced story-line and CJ is a strong character, she has plans and she intends to make them happen, and not let love stand in her way. Tyrone - what can I say, he first appears to be a typical 'Jock' with a different girl hanging off him each night, and Tyrone one thing on his mind (12 inches if he is to believed!!) but he has seen something in CJ that he wants. They play a cat and mouse game to start with and eventually they hook up because they make sparks when they get together. "We can’t always have what we want, and sometimes that’s the way life is meant to be." I am not going to give you a blow by blow account of the book, I will just say that as the book progresses it not just a college romance book, but takes you through the years as CJ and Tyrone go out and find their way in the world. As Ms Smith is quite adept at doing, she will pull your heart strings like a skilled conductor at a symphony. I cried, I laughed and I hoped that the pair would find a time when their paths would align and it would finally be their turn for happiness. and I am not going to tell you (no spoilers lol)
