This is a great stand alone story of a retired NFL star and a single Mom. Mitch "Flash" Flashman is 35, has retired at the top of his game with 2 Super Bowl rings and two-time MVP, now finding himself helping out his older brother, Deacon, also a retired by injury football pro, coach his 2A high school football team in small town central Oregon. Mitch is at a crossroads and doesn't know what to do with the rest of his life now that he's not playing his beloved football anymore. One of the stand out players on the team is Simon a freshman who's whip smart and has a smart mouth. Becca Bragg is a widow and Mom to 14 year old Simon. She owns a Tea Shop on Main Street and bakes delicious sweets. She and Simon have been on their own for 7 years. She has the support of her cousin Nora Nielson who is like a sister, and her mother's sister Aunt Sue and Uncle Luke. Becca is sure the new "hottie" in town Flash is full of himself but is surprised to find he's not. She find herself helping him fend off all the single gold-diggers in town and they form an easy friendship. She helps him with the ladies and he's keeping Simon from skipping classes mentoring Simon on how to say things respectfully. Becca has been a widow for 7 years and still struggles with letting go of her soulmate Neal. This is Ms Harte's small town storytelling and relationships at it's best. I find I care about Becca and Nora, Mitch and Deacon. I want Nora and Deacon's story now, cause no character can be left behind in her story world she crafts so well.

Any Given Snow Day by Marie Harte was a very fun book to read. For a change it was about the mom of a teenager rather than some sweet young thing. There was, of course, the ex-pro football player but why not? Mitch has been helping coach Becca's son, Simon's, high school football team. Becca is not overly impressed with him: she thinks he's arrogant. Most of the other women in town disagree: married or not, they think he's hot and available. They develop a friendship based on mutual need: Simon needs help and Mitch needs to get one particularly aggressive mom off his case. Things develop. Mitch is happy; Simon is happy; Becca is scared. What is going on with her? With them? This is a very pleasant romance. Unlike many books, there are more points of reality in this story. The characters are relatable, if not stereotypical. Everyone knows a Linda Madison, cougar on the prowl, and Simon, boy needing a father. There's the snarky sister and the brother who's been hurt. There are a million single moms out there, some looking, some, not. Good characters, good plot. A must read if ever I saw one. The received a free ARC of Any Given Snow Day in exchange for a fair and honest review.

If you love small town stories, and a sweet though at times heartbreaking romance , this one is the one for you. Add a wealthy former NFL player, a strong woman who became a widow too young, and a sweet and funny 14 year old boy, and you know you have a winner. The story centers around Mitch Flashman/Flash and Becca Bragg. He’s in town to help his brother coach a HS football team and also find a purpose for his life after football. While all the moms are trying to get his attention, the snarly one with an attitude is the only one he wants. But Becca has loved once and the pain of that loss is still with her. Will Becca let go of her fears and allow them to have their HEA? Read the book and find out ! I was entrusted a copy of this book. The opinions expressed are solely my own.

I always look forward to the holiday romances that become available during this time of the year. ANY GIVEN SNOW DAY by Marie Harte is a terrific addition to this popular genre. The eye catching cover immediately caught my attention. This story takes place in central Oregon, where high school football is a big entertainment draw to the 30,000 locals. As a single mom and successful tea shop entrepreneur, widow Becca Bragg has a lot on her plate. Since losing her husband, Becca has devoted herself to her work and her teenage son, Simon. Simon may be only a freshman, but his football skills are way above average. His new football coach, former Super Bowl champion Mitch “Flash” Flashman, is a lonely man that lives in a luxurious home. Becca and Mitch share an instant attraction which evolves into much more between Halloween and Christmas. Ms. Harte has become one of my favorite authors, and her novels are consistently sexy and exciting. This book is nicely written, and I adored the relationship Becca had with both her son and her cousin. I really liked Linda, a parent of one of the football players, because her selfishness and nastiness were so well depicted. Overall, this is a hot holiday read that can be enjoyed all year long. This time around the author shares something in common with her characters. Both are finding their footing on a course that is alien to them. Marie Harte steps outside of her comfort zone with Any Given Snow Day. Mitch and Becka shoot off sparks, but are a bit tamer than some of her previous tales. On the corner of sexy and steamy, lies love and drama and there is no holding back on that end. Mitch is at a crossroads. He has money and fame, but no sense of direction. Seeking to change that, he sets about rebuilding his world, he turns to his first love and his hometown. Coaching impressionable minds and dodging tenacious women. All except one. Becka is his greatest challenge, but could end up being an everlasting reward. If he can break down the barriers to her heart. Any Given Snow Day puts it all on the line and succeeds. TOUCHDOWN INDEED!
