About the Author

Gloria Lynn Clark is a senior honor student at her high school in the greater Atlanta area and is a nationally ranked track and field student-athlete. She was selected by playwright Pearl Cleage for the Alliance Theatre's, The Writer's Collision Project. She is also the author of, Thru the Eyes of 9/11. An inspiration to many with Dyslexia, she was selected by HBO to open for their award-winning film screening for the documentary "Dyslexia-The Big Picture;" invited by Yale University for a spoken word performance of her poem, "Overcoming," for Yale's Center for "Dyslexia Multi-cultural Dyslexia Awareness Initiative;" selected by the Congressional Black Caucus Foundation to perform at the 43rd Annual Legislative Conference in Washington, DC, and many other speaking and performing honors. While she is grateful for the recognition, Glo is most proud of her community service work. This Debutante is the daughter of Christopher and Jenell Clark, has one brother and plans to attend college.

Sydni Derek Moore is a senior and President of her class at a high school in the greater Atlanta area. She is also an A student, football cheerleader, basketball cheerleader, captain of the golf team, a member of FCA, and newspaper journalist at her school. Sydni was selected to attend the National Student Leadership Conference in Washington, DC. She volunteers with several local organizations, is a page for a senator in Georgia, is a member of the youth leadership team at her church, and is a Debutante. She currently lives with her parents, Derrick and Stephanie Moore. She has an older brother in college and a younger sister in high school. Sydni plans to attend college and aspires to be a broadcast journalist. She longs to see her peers know they can be anything they want to be...all they have to do is work hard at their dreams and have faith.
