The research presented in this book gives the reader a good overall view of the problems faced by the UAV industry in the use of the airspace required for operation. The first part of the book is a bit rambling making it hard for the reader to determine the focus of the material. The actual research is very well presented. I would recommend it to anyone who wants a better understanding of the problems the UAV industry and the federal government face. This book also gives the reader an understanding of complexity leadership and how it could be used to help solve problems industry and government face.

I really enjoyed reading this book. The book was easy to follow and makes a lot of sense. I don't understand why the govt doesn't embrace many of these ideas - it would definitely make govt move faster. An excellent read for those involved in organizational decision making.

Our nation desperately requires leadership that is adaptive, collaborative, resilient, and innovative when trusted to resolve complex issues. Further plagued by bureaucracy Dr. Mumm's example in the emerging and technological use of drones, within the national airspace system (NAS), is timely. Dr. Corinna Robinson, former Congressional candidate, U.S. Army (Retired)

Dr. Mumm chose to look at a problem through a unique lens and to illustrate how conventional wisdom might not be what is needed to address this difficult dilemma with Drones and airspace. The FAA being a governmental institution is mostly using conventional wisdom to try and solve a very different problem. Einstein’s saying about trying to solve difficult problems with the same level of thinking comes to mind. A change in this arena is going to happen whether we want it to or not. Why not be ahead of the curve as opposed to being behind it? Dr. Mumms’ book gives the reader a fresh new perspective on how to actually apply a theory to practice which can lead to safer airspace for all who fly in it. Let us stay ahead of the curve on this one, how Drones are regulated in relation to airspace usage is critical to so many important areas including national security. Dr. Bryan Forsyth, Professor, CTU

Dr. Mumm has offered us a good question to ponder...why do our leaders not lead anymore? Drones and the lack of drone policy is a good example of why we need to ponder this question. In the book Dr. Mum offers several examples of past leadership and ponders why our leaders are now struggling to lead in this fast past technological world we live in. This book is a good read and it is well sourced offering many in depth questions to think about at the same time offering several different ideas and solutions to the problems of today. Well done!
