I was very caught up in the uniqueness of this novel and the accurate mythological background that was found worked into this very unique tale.  By the end of this novel I felt like I would have walked into the world that the author created and found my way around with little to no trouble.  The dialogue in this novel fit well with the story and was never forced or drawn out.  The characters spoke like real people.  They  also lived the lives of real individuals, highlighted with Thawer’s unique method of storytelling and her vivid and detailed descriptions.  The main characters were very unique and I found myself wanting to point them in the correct direction.  I did enjoy the secondary characters, but a bit more background information on some of them would have made it easier to relate to them.  Overall, the entire cast was so well developed that I knew each quite well.  Some more intimately than others, but that’s the way relationships go in reality as well.  I was able to connect with every character in the novel in some way or another.  It was a unique experience.   This novel was an amazing read for anyone who enjoys romance, mythology, the paranormal, or just a plain unique read.  My final thoughts?  I cannot wait to read more from this series and would love to dip into other works by this author.     Please note that I received this novel free of charge from the author in exchange for an honest review.

Aradia Awakens is fast-paced, engaging, refreshing, and a must read.  The characters are done well.  They feel real, and I love how her bad guys are as much multi-dimentional characters as everyone else.  In fact, one of my favorite characters in the book was a bad guy. I like how the book starts… with her fantasizing about dessert.  It's so comical, considering her surroundings.  It makes me immediately become enamored with the main character, allowing the reader to quickly become engaged, invested in the outcome. I also like how the book is organized.  I am a strong advocate for short chapters.  They make a book seem faster.  And this book already moves quickly, even without the short chapters.  There seemed to be a pull dragging me through the story, moving me forward toward some inevitable end.  It moved along like a freight train.  So quickly, in fact, that I checked to see if it was a novella and I didn't realize, but the paper copy is 376 pages, which is no novella. I kind of love Devin, but I've always been attracted to sassy, sarcastic, smart-alec characters.  I mean, why else would I watch House?  It certainly isn't for the medical accuracy… The book had just the right amount of cursing.  Not so much that it felt like overkill but not completely devoid, which would seem silly.  Especially with one of the characters being a bartender.  The language is smooth, flows well.  It feels natural, unforced. The book had me frequently laughing.  It's very action-packed, filled with mystery and awe, but it didn't let that be all there was.  And while the book seemed fairly predictable, I didn't mind because that was the only outcome I wanted.  I might have been upset if things had gone down differently. Oh God, I loved the ending of this book!  Just bloody brilliant!  I've found, one of the biggest challenges for new authors writing series is making it feel like the book has ended while simultaneously leaving room for a continuing story arc.  Here, the author does that perfectly.  I finished the book, and immediately wanted to pick up the next one.

I received this book free in exchange for an honest review.  The Daughter of Diana, Goddess of Ovialell, reborn as a human.  Aryiah wakes up from a dream remembering nothing but the word Wicca.  She goes to the library with her best friend Devin in order to search for clues and to reeducate herself with this religion.  From here her life is turned upside down as she encounters ghostly sights, meets up with her spirit guide and lover Damarius, and is chased by a vampire assassin.  She is the lost daughter Aradia, and she must embrace her fate to complete the coven, and die in the process. Tish Thawer builds an interesting world in Ovialell, a land separated into 3 levels, the upper level where Diana and her court reside, along with the Amazons, the middle level where the Seelie and Unseelie courts are, and the lower level where the vampires and demons reside.  There is a lot of intrigue as well as a lot of STEAMY scenes in this book.  Definitely for older readers.

I am such a slacker for not putting up this review sooner. I had the privilege of reading Aradia Awakens as a beta reader and was beyond excited about it. Tish Thawer has written a book that steps out of shadows of her first mature YA series, The Rose Trilogy, and catapults her into the adult genre with perfect precision. Aradia Awakens is a story about a woman whose past is revealed through a series of events that will leave your begging for more. Aryiah and her best friend Devin have been friends since college and while strange events happened even then, none of them were as odd as they were the day they went to library to do a little research. From that moment forward, Aryiah’s world was turned upside down. A sexy male, an evil vampire hell bent on killing her, and a shift in her best friends loyalty all turn Aryiah’s normal life into an adventure with many unexpected surprises. Oviaell is a well thought out, well-crafted supernatural world filled with wolves, vampires, witches, and fae. Tish does a beautiful job of drawing the reader into this magical world, but I must say that while all of the world building is terrific, nothing is more fantastic than the steamy sex scenes that include sensual encounters between Aryiah and Damarius to the more erotic scenes between Devin and Gage. *fans self* Let’s just say that while dungeons may normally seem dingy and uninviting…this trip may have you thinking otherwise. If you haven’t yet read Aradia Awakens, I’d advise you do it soon…you won’t be disappointed!

This was a series I couldn't wait to get my hands on and now I'm ready for book 2. Aryiah, has felt like there was more to her life. Strange things begin to happen that she can't explain, so she sets out looking for answers by reading books of Wicca. With her best friend never taking anything serious, Aryiah keeps what she finds out and who she meets to herself. While in the mist of finding out the truth, Aryiah's life changes when Damarius comes along. Hott and ready to keep her safe is what he's all about!!! Damarius, must guide Aryiah to the life she was meant to have while danger lurks. This kept me on the edge which in turn became even more than I expected. A must read if you love great books with a bang!! *Contains Sexual Content Which Is NOT Suitable For Children*
