Being a non-super hero comic that survived since the 1940's, Archie comics has been the heart of simple American comics.  A kid today could probably talk about this comic series with parents and grandparents.  Throughout the years nothing has really changed the life of Archie and the gang:  always in high school, still deciding if Archie like Betty or Veronica better, when Moose and Midge will get married, if Jughead will ever get a job and maybe stop eating, and if Reggie will ever stop being a jerk.  This book is the start of questions that was always asked but never answered... Until now!!!  If you are a big Archie Comics fan, then hang on tight for the roller coaster ride of comics.  You'll see some of your beloved characters grow up more than you wanted them to.  This is one of the best Archie comic series ever...and to think that it's only Book 1!

Full Review: here Genre: Graphic Novel. Number of Pages: 320. Perspective: Third. Location: Riverdale. Archie Andrews has flip-flopped between Betty and Veronica for decades. And he still does not choose. This book shows two alternate realities: if he had married Veronica vs. Betty. I picked this comic up after being inspired by my new guilty-pleasure show, Riverdale. It’s just as cheesy as I imagined it would be. It is interesting seeing some potential futures for the characters. Some characters are very similar to their show counterparts and some are not even recognizable in appearance or personality. I chose this particular issue because it was the only Archie graphic novel currently available at my public library. I think the Afterlife of Archie comics will be more my style since they are darker and are written by the same author as the Chilling Adventures of Sabrina, which I enjoyed much more than this. I would also be interested in reading ARCHIE the reboot by Mark Waid and Fiona Staples. It is modernized with a more diverse cast. From what I understand, that is closer to what Riverdale was modeled after. I grew bored with the back and forth between realities after halfway through. It felt repetitive and the dialogue was too fake to keep me engaged. It wasn’t dark, so I expected this version to be funny like the short Sunday funnies. Nope, this wasn’t really humorous at all. For huge Archie fans, I’m sure this will fair better due to nostalgia.

This series gets political half way through and ends with Arichie bleeding to death from a gunshot wound. This is the warning I wish someone had been able to give me.

This was amazing! i've been trying to get into Archie comics for a while and had no idea how to. I started with this one knowing that Archie is supposed to be a fun and silly kind of comic for everyone and that this one was a more adult take on the characters. The idea is that the story goes back and forth showing what would happen if Archie married Veronica or Betty and how the decision to do so affect the people in their lives. I was not expecting this comic to be so amazing. Even if you don't the characters of Archie, you'll grow to know and love them in this series. The situations theses people get into are real adult struggles that people do get into. I really do love the more mature look on this amazing comic. With all these great things though I will have to say that this comic if the size of a small phone book and took me three days to finish. Also a lot of the plot lines are alike in each story and can get a little confusing, but still over all entertaining. I recommend this to anyone who wants a different take on a beloved comic.

Love the alternate realities. More real life than most Archie comics, with real life issue, so not for those who want the goody goody escape. Still very entertaining and a nice, new side of Archie! Love the old and the new!
