About the Author
Bill McCormick was born and raised in California, spending most of his childhood in Humboldt County and then Sacramento. He graduated high school in 1965, attended college for awhile and then joined the Army in October of 1967. He was sent to Vietnam in September of 1968 and spent his whole tour with the 174th Ord. Det. in Cam Ranh Bay. Upon leaving Vietnam in 1969 he was sent to Fort Riley Kansas for a few months and was discharged as a SGT E-5 in 1970. Bill returned to college, earning a BA in U.S. History from Cal. State Sacramento in 1976. A serious bicycle rider for over thirty years, he has worked as a bike mechanic and has cycled around the U.S. and Canada. After working for the State of California for 21 years, Bill retired in 2009. He is the author of two Hellgate Press books: "And What Was I Doing There?" and "Are Your Ready to Ride?".
