A Thesaurus Ink Review:
I needed to take a few deep breaths at the end of AROUSAL JAG. It was a bit of a rollercoaster ride!
There was an immense amount of intensity throughout, and H. Rogers Clark does not pull on the brakes at any stage, until the screeching halt at the end. It was great that the work crescendo to an unexpected ending and an interesting character arc.
The characters were well defined. I believed them to be real people. Each of the four main characters displayed, played, and lived out their obviously extreme personalities and added to the energy of the story.
The dialogue was killer. I personally do not go for all the cussing but it is, as they say, contextual to the milieu. The end left me saying, "whoah, hello!!" All pretty intense. But as I say given the context within which the story is told and the characters, it makes sense.
I appreciated the extent of the author's research in opening up this secret world to us. To me it's one of the most exciting elements of storytelling, the "fly-on-the-wall" dimension. This aspect alone drove my interest.
It was a great read that actually grabbed me by the short and curlies. That's probably the best comment I could make.

I love this author, and I think this is his best work, though Signs Follow on the Chesapeake (while a different genre) is also an incredible page turner. I highly recommend it.
