This is a fantastic little book for an educational trip to Rome. It is small enough to carry with you to Rome, but it also has great color pictures, good maps, weather information, museum hours. The architectural commentary is substantial and not shallow as in most travel books. It also offers good historical explanations and timelines, biographies of important Romans, glossary of terms. Really useful for someone looking for cerebral travel. Do not look here for hotels, restaturants, etc. Also a great textbook to prepare groups for travel, especially since it costs less than $15 for hardback.
