Worst CD that I have bought in a long time. Unless you want calming sleeping music, do not buy this! If you like the song ''Foolish'' thats all that is decent.

i hafta admit...i'm a newer fan of r&b but i couldn't have picked a better place to start than ashanti. this cd is smooth and the songs are catchy (i esp. luv ''happy''). they're songs to dance to (like #3,4,6) and songs to relate to (like #2,7,13)....a full range of depth and emotion. congratulations ashanti on a job well done...i can't wait for the follow up!

I heard the album and I like Ashanti and wish her continued success, but I can't give her total props on much of anything but her voice. Most of the best songs on her album are some of the most blatent rip-offs since Vanilla Ice took ''under pressure'' from the Rolling Stones and made millions and a wack movie of a good ''original'' beat. How can anyone say with a straight face that ''foolish'' is a great song and not acknowledge the fact that 95% of that is the beat that Puffy remixed and B.I.G. blessed with some of the smoothest lyrics from a hardcore rapper. True, they took the beat from DeBarge hit ''stay with me'', which in itself is a dope song, but at least they remixed it and no one can say that B.I.G.'s lyrics didn't put it over the top and sell it to a new audience. I could not contain myself when I heard the beat from Scarface's ''Mary, Mary'' used in her album. What a rape. They didn't even bother to change anything. There are at least 5 other samples on her album that could be sold without her voice and still go platinum (foolish). Ashanti has a nice voice and could be a very good artist, but no respect until she gets some original material and makes her producers get off their butts and really ''produce'' beats for her to roll to. I'm still trippin' off the ''Mary, Mary'' beat. I am not saying that I didn't like some of the album, but it should have been named ''NOW that's what I call Music 30!!!!!'' Out

I only heard Foolish,Unfoolish,Baby,Happy, and Call so I can't say her album is great. But those songs are good even though the beats are from other people. But she is not the next Aaliyah so stop saying it. Ashanti's voice is not that great. She can't hold a high note. She can't dance. Now how could u say she's the next Aaliyah. Aaliyah could do everything! Ashanti can probably work up the ability of Aaliyah's level but she will NOT take her place

Ashanti is very pretty. She can hold a note for a minute or so. But her album wasn't great. I admit there were a few good tracks, but everyone makes it seem as if it was what the "Music World" was missing. It was coo. I'd buy it, but it could use someone who has better vocal skills and a producer and writer who know how to do their jobs. For starting out, she did pretty well. Hopefully, as she progresses in the music industry, she will acquire better knowledge of her business.

Murder Inc.¿s princess of hip hop, Ashanti, kicks it off for the year 2002 with her selftitled debut. Ashanti is known for her talented lyrics, which makes every song on her album even more smart and sexier. She is a woman of original style and she can definitely sing. ¿Ashanti¿ has been off the charts as since it hit the stores. The hot debut single, ¿Foolish¿, was an immediate hit. Other songs, such as, ¿Dreams¿ and ¿Happy¿, with their optimistic lyrics, incorporates a high spirited flavor into the Hip-Hop genre. You don¿t find much of that in Hip Hop these days; in addition to that, her angelic voice tops it all. No wonder most big hip hop artists want Ashanti to feature in their songs. She has partnered up with Ja Rule in ¿Always on Time¿, ¿Bad Azz Chick¿, and sung with Fat Joe in ¿What¿s Love¿; which of course are top selling singles. It seems like everything that Ashanti touches turns into gold these days.

Ashanti's debut album was surprisingly one of the best R&B albums to come out in 2002. With Ashanti's smooth, breathy vocals, deep, passionate lyrics, and girl-next-door appearance, she's the stuff R&B divas are made of. Sure, she's no Aaliyah, Beyonce, or Monica voice-wise, but she's pretty, and has a pretty voice to go with it. Gotta give the girl props.

Ashanti's album is bangin'! Her vocals are up there with the big girlz. Ja and Murder Inc. knew exactly what they were doin'. After 8 long years Ashanti finally has made it. Competition for Miss Keys at the AMA and Soul Train Awards next year. Possible collabo with Ashanti and Keys in the future?

Ashanti's album sounds like the real deal! She has a wonderful voice and she sounds like she can really relate to us women who are going through the same damn thing with men and life in general. I believe she could possibly be our next new Diva! She has the class, style and personality to go to the TOP! Good Luck Ashanti! You Go Girl!

For many of us, there will probably never be another singer that will replace what Aaliyah has put on the minds of all those who have listened to her. Well with Ashanti, she is not trying to. Instead she is bringing her own style of music to the world. Having performed on many tracks from Fat Joe all the way to Ja Rule and the Murder Inc. family to whom she is associated with, Ashanti has made a name for herself as an accomplished performer. Now the wait is over and the whole world can now hear her self-titled cd. This is a bold new step for Murder Inc. Everything from the intro which is like a continuation of her accomplishments and eventually leads on to the first single ''Foolish'' where she talks about her wanting to leave a cheating man but can't. Other hits to me include the new single''Happy'' which gives that good club feel with that Gap Band sample hooking it up, ''Leaving'' which is the sequel to ''Always on Time'' which keeps the music to the first on point. The slow jams on here are sweet. Now the only thing I can tolerate but will have to grow on me is the ''Unfoolish'' track. To me it could have been a little better in a sense without the Biggie input. All in all it is a tight album enough to say that she is on her way to the top.

Ashanti really proves herself on this album. I am really feeling most of the song, especially the song Unfoolish (Foolish Remix). I say GOOD JOB ASHANTI!

Yawn. All of the songs sound alike. So many people comment on how 'pretty' she is. Well from the speakers of a CD player, she sounds boring. If you are into vocals, do not buy this CD! If hooks and beats are enough to get you going then have fun.
