About the Author

Rochelle grew up dreaming. When she entered high school, she tucked away her creative side and jumped head-first into academics, work, and service projects. She graduated summa cum laude with a degree in Political Science and Communication when she was twenty years old. After years away from her writing, Rochelle picked up a pen and started fleshing out a character sketch that she outlined when she was twelve. That sketch was the start of the Ashes and Ice story. Rochelle lives in the DC metro area with her husband and daughter. By day she works as a behavioral therapist. By night, she is a dreamer and is busy tapping out new stories on her keyboard.

I am completely blown away and amazed by Ashes & Ice. Once I started, I was in a trance, I couldn't put it down. I know with each page something else was coming. Rochelle filled Ashes & Ice full of loss, love, and excitement. This is one book I wouldn't mind reading over and over again. Epic is the best word I can use to describe Ashes & Ice. Jade has no memory of who she is, where she's from, or what's happened to her. She soon finds her self in Louisiana finding searching for answers she's not sure she'll be able to find. Connor has just lost his father and nothing feels right any more. He's feels invisible, lost, and alone. That is till he meets the one girl who changes everything.

I couldn't put this book down. I wish there was just a bit more action or a bit more going on though, and this the only reason it has four stars instead of five. However, I loved the characters in the book and I was crossing  my fingers that Connor would man up and tell Jade how he really felt. Jade was awesome, I love how she didn't take crap from anyone and how she was protective over Connor. I love how they helped each other come out of their holes, I guess you can call it. I'm super excited for the next book. With how it ended I'm guessing there will be another book! I am very interested and knowing more about how Jade ended up in the woods with no memory, and how her and Giovanni were an item. I am a bit pissed off at the fact that he took the note Jade left for Connor. I feel that to be a bit selfish and for right now I don't like Giovanni. Lol. I'm all for Connor and Jade. Book was well written. Leaves you wantin more.

This book surprised me, because the supernatural bend in this story isn't one I typically enjoy. But Ashes & Ice is refreshingly original with an intriguing mythology, and it didn't always go in directions I expected. I really loved Connor's character growth throughout the novel, and Jade's character as a whole. The writing style was lovely; very lush and descriptive with some spine-tinglingly chilling moments. Just very well done overall.

Dark and Wicked. Those are the two words to describe this book. In the beginning I was on the fence about how this book would play out. It reads very choppy and unclear in the beginning, but as you read on it levels out and you have a better understanding of the characters. I am not a big fan on books that switch from character to character. For me it takes away some of the bond that you would normally forge with the main character. Rochelle makes it work with her story, instead of one bond you form two. I liked that this was not your fairy tale romance with a happily ever after. Throughout most of the book, both characters are in pain emotionally. Even with each other, there is so much distance that neither can come to grips with what is in front of them. The big mystery is who and what Jade is and what part Conner is supposed to play in her life. Rochelle leads you to believe a few things about Jade but beware, you will never figure it out. I am a big fan of the tough females who don't need to be saved every five seconds. That is exactly what Jade is, tough on the outside but hollow on the inside. It gives her an opportunity to grow as a character. I like that Conner and Jade don't form a romantic relationship in the beginning. They are friends and you see them grow together and actually fall in love. This book contains so much mystery and suspense that it grips you in and doesn't let go. I am very excited to see what happens in book two.

COVER DESIGN: This cover is one of the most gorgeous covers I’ve seen in a long time. The illusion of the ice and the fonts used for the title are perfect for the book. The eyes of the woman are beautiful and enticing; they drew me in. Eve the subtle line of liquid coming from her eye is ingenious; a tear, but also “melting ice”. I wish I could have this book in paperback, just to have the beauty of it on my shelf. WHAT I LIKED: Well, let’s start from the beginning. The dedication was sweet and emotional and definitely memorable. I loved how we had an inside look into each character. It was nice to see the evolution of the characters and their relationships. I will admit that I have a female crush on Jade! She is fantastic! The writing is professional, yet simple enough for anyone to understand. It was mysterious and my heart rate quickened from the very 1st page! It grew more exciting by the second. The author is very talented and I hope she writes again so I can enjoy a book this much again. WHAT I DIDN’T LIKE: The only thing that I disliked was that it sort of felt like 2 stories merged into one. 1) Romance between Connor & Jade 2) Jade’s issues and the revealing truth about her. Maybe it should have had a part 1 and a part 2. ADDITIONAL NOTES: I would not hesitate to compare this book to TV shows like Charmed and more. This would make an amazing TV show that I would watch for years and years and years.

Clear and simple...5. This author has such beautiful prose that for the first time in a long time I actually had to look up the note saving feature on my Nook because I knew there were certain turns of phrase that I would want to visit again. Outstanding novel and I'll read anything I come across by this author.

This book had several elements I have been looking for in a book for awhile. I was actually talking to an author the other about how some books lately want to put all the information out up front. This book kept its mystery. She wakes up not knowing who she is or anything about herself. She has black outs, and feels cold and empty inside. You don't find out what she really is until the very end. It was very surprising, and interesting. We get to see the story from both Connor and Jade's perspective, I like knowing what different characters are thinking. Jade had a hard girl exterior, but inside she was extremely lonely. Connor and Jade both had their flaws, but they were very likable. The book constantly kept you guessing. We don't find out things until the character finds them out. We can definitely feel her confusion in this book. It was a very fast read. I recommend it to everyone who likes a unique paranormal story. I can't wait for the second book. FTC: This book was given to me for review.
