Overview

NEW YORK TIMES BESTSELLER • The stunning conclusion to Robin Hobb’s Fitz and the Fool trilogy, which began with Fool’s Assassin and Fool’s Quest

“Every new Robin Hobb novel is a cause for celebration. Along with millions of her other fans, I delight in every visit to the Six Duchies, the Rain Wilds, and the Out Islands, and can’t wait to see where she’ll take me next.”—George R. R. Martin

More than twenty years ago, the first epic fantasy novel featuring FitzChivalry Farseer and his mysterious, often maddening friend the Fool struck like a bolt of brilliant lightning. Now New York Times bestselling author Robin Hobb brings to a momentous close the third trilogy featuring these beloved characters in a novel of unsurpassed artistry that is sure to endure as one of the great masterworks of the genre.

Fitz’s young daughter, Bee, has been kidnapped by the Servants, a secret society whose members not only dream of possible futures but use their prophecies to add to their wealth and influence. Bee plays a crucial part in these dreams—but just what part remains uncertain.

As Bee is dragged by her sadistic captors across half the world, Fitz and the Fool, believing her dead, embark on a mission of revenge that will take them to the distant island where the Servants reside—a place the Fool once called home and later called prison. It was a hell the Fool escaped, maimed and blinded, swearing never to return.

For all his injuries, however, the Fool is not as helpless as he seems. He is a dreamer too, able to shape the future. And though Fitz is no longer the peerless assassin of his youth, he remains a man to be reckoned with—deadly with blades and poison, and adept in Farseer magic. And their goal is simple: to make sure not a single Servant survives their scourge.

So much joy you brought to my life. I cried, I laughed, I rejoiced in every word. I don't even think words can express in full my gratitude for being allowed to see this world through the eyes of a wolf, a jester, a simpleton, a queen, an assassin, a dragon, a servant, a minstrel... So many shared views of the magical world of the Seven Duchies. Thank you.

I have followed Fitz from the beginning and this was a hard book to finish. It is like a friend that you would see intermittently throughout your life and every time you knew you were in for a good time. Thank You Robin Hobby for sharing this great series with us Good hunting Fitz

A perfect ending. I could not put it down even though I truly wished to at times.

I've read all of the books in this series and I can't believe it's over. These characters are family now. Many times while reading I would find myself rereading a description just because of how poetically her words flow. This author is a master at drawing you in and immersing you into the world she has created. She so beautifully captures her characters that it's hard not to feel like you really know them. I've read hundreds of books just in the past few years including all the George rr Marin books and all of Anne Rice's books and I can honestly say that Robin Hobb has topped them all. Thank you for sharing your creation with us!

What a book and what an ending! So many characters to love and remember. I am a 75 year old former Marine and this book left me with tears streaming down my face (both times I read it). I can't believe the story is finished or is it?

A very satisfying final chapter in the decades-long saga of Fitz and the Fool. Robin Hobb is in fine form, and her story-telling magic is on full display. Particularly enjoyable is that she weaves characters we know from the Liveships books into this story. Loved it!!!

Only Tolkien and my first reading of The Hobbit 35 years ago has made me feel like Robin Hobb does. I'll miss Fitz and the Fool. Not sure what to look forward to now. Guess I'll read them all again.

Another damn fine read. I knew the end was coming. I knew it had to. This book took me through all the depths of emotion the other ones had. The characters grew and changed and I felt it while reading. By that I mean that I was not just a person reading the words, but feeling them along with the characters because I have become so engrossed and enamored with the people and the world. Thankyou Robin Hobb for another great book and an amazing end to an epic saga I have loved.

OMG... tears and tears and more tears. Some struggle to get through the book (it's long), but the last 100 pages or so make the entire series worth it. It will be long before I can read this again; I can't face it too soon after all this emotion. My heart is broken, but it is as it should be.

Assassins Fate is the best book Robin Hobb ever wrote! She tied all of the loose ends up and ended the book just right. What more can one say. She is a fantastic writer. I look forward to her next series.

While it is always a mixed bag at the end of s series (sorry to see characters stories ending, while hoping to see them in future books) this book did a great job of wrapping up loose ends, even if it did seem rushed at times. This is a wonderful series that I would recomend to any fan of the fantasy genre.
